Sanchez is terrible, also.
Tebow, unlike Sanchez, took a generally mediocre team to the playoffs last season. He also won a championship in college while in a conference that probably sends more players to the NFL than any other.
There is more to the QB position than throwing style. Sometimes non-traditional players can get modest results if the other parts of the puzzle are in place to run an offense that supports his talents.
The one unavoidable fact is that Sanchez has gotten worse with time, rather than better, as one would expect. I doubt there's much future in NY for him, at least if they want to win.
Turnovers can be more decisive than passing statistics. 80 yds passing followed by a redzone interception are worse than 40 yds passing w/ no turnover. Maybe he can avoid those better.
The season is toast. Why not try him and see what happens? At a minimum it silences the controversy. Best case they start winning a few.
Management brought him there for some reason. Ryan is probably gone if he digs in his heels and refuses to play him. He may already know this and is doing it to spite the team.
There is obviously a backlash to his style of overt christianity amongst many players as well as fans.
Cromartie is one to talk about being terrible this season.
