    4K is going to be the next big thing in TV whether you like it or not.

    Here's the first ULTRA-HD 4K mastered adult content:

    This video is pretty tame - but it's still NSFW.

    I'm not sure how I feel about seeing every single zit on a porn star's ass - but pretty soon you'll have that option.

    it might be the next thing, but 3D was too expensive with too little payback to succeed. estimates are that 4k will cost > $10g for an entry level set once the prices settle. at those prices, i think i will wait for a chinese lowballed set from Vizio. i suspect it will succeed as well as 3D.

    btw, gizmodo is the most unscrupulous news source out there, after fox news. if you don't recall, they are the guys who "found" the iphone 4 in a bar in SFO.

    No, it's just HD rez x 4

    1080= a thousand and 80 lines of resolution vertically.

    4k= 4,000 lines

    For a computer screen, it's re-goddamn-DICK-ulous overkill

    So for people more up on this stuff. Is OLED a next gen plasma tech ? Are 4k primarily meant for computer monitors then ?

    With OLED, each pixel is a light source, so it doesn't need a backlight - contrast is greatly enhanced. It's different than plasma or LCD. The composite degrades fairly quickly, so the TV's life is much shorter.

    4k will be available in OLED, PLASMA, LCD, AND LED

    OLED will be the clear winner once the price come down and they work out the bugs in the first generation tvs

    one thing that early adopters will have to risk is the fact that since OLED by its very name is Organic material there is a chance that

    it may fade with time....

    I actually have a OLED screen. :cheer:

    [IMG]

    From what I can tell from such as small screen the darks are much better than my 1080p led tv. Plus zero input lag for gaming.
