Meh. I loved Jackie on the show but all of you who are demanding respect and love for all the funny he brought......are you listening to Joke Hunt or buying his merch? Not bloody likely, and it's because Jackie was funny when filtered through the show. I listen to his act when it pops up on Raw Dog now and again, and it's amusing for a minute or two not because of the material, but the manic pace and his laughing at himself and his jokes......just like Howie mocks him for. And I disagree the show "went downhill", because along came Artie and he brought a totally new dimension that I fucking loved for a long time until he went batshit insane.
I know a lot here love to kill Howie on everything and take the "other side" no matter how wrong they are, but I'm betting he's mostly right on this, and the proof is in the picture. Jackie had a better gig than he has now, and he fucked it up. He made his choice and he lost. End of story. If I were there, I'd tell him I was a fan of his when he was on the show and shake his hand, but I get the feeling unless there was $20 involved, he wouldn't give shit.

Jackie, I'm punching up some scripts. I just got a huge advance for my next book. I have some amazing movie parts lined up where I will be appearing with some of biggest stars in Hollywood. I'm sorry that I can't reveal their names at this time. I also just did a pilot for one of the big three and word is it's been "Greenlighted" for a full season. I usually attend the "Can Film Festival". Cannes, really. That what I said, the "Can Film Festival".
Man, his partying ways have certainly caught up to him. He looks sickly.
I'm no Jackie cheerleader, but I thought he looked and sounded very happy and healthy in the interview. I would rather be Jackie in 2012 than Howard. And for the Jackie bashers and haters of the Joke Hunt (I think it is lame), it was the chemistry that Jackie brought to the show. He was a catalyst for a lot of funny shit. So was Artie. No catalyst= no funny shit anymore. Anything else, Robin?

i dont get what you are saying howard is right about.
jackie didnt quit the show because he thought he could get a better gig. jackie didnt even quit at all.
yes jackie lost. but howard lost too. and so did the fans.
if john lennon had a boothe at comic-com 2012, he would be sititng alone too, because those geeks wouldnt even know who he was.
jackie, howard, fred, and stut john were the beatles of talk radio.
end of story
It pisses me off when I see people write about what a loser Jackie is. He was the heart and soul of the Stern Show in it's golden years. He was the #1 instigator. He put the funny in Howard's mouth. His foul, rude sense of humor permeated the show and made millions for Howard, Buchwald, and K-Rock. Who do you Jackie-hating fuckers think wrote all those rude questions for Stuttering John? Who do you think wrote all those Marge Schott bits for Billy West? It sure as fuck wasn't Howard...in fact, there's plenty of evidence that Howard himself really isn't funny. He always outsourced the "funny" to Jackie (as a writer) or Artie (co-host)...on his own, Howard is all gay talk.
Jackie should have gotten paid more. He was the head writer on a phenomenally successful radio show that raked in hundreds of millions of dollars while he was with it. Howard always liked to brag that his show was bigger, more influential, and more profitable than The Tonight Show or Letterman--I fucking guarantee you that a head writer on a major TV show got paid better than Jackie did. Howard's MO with Jackie and Artie was to pay them a low wage and tell them that they could rake in money from plugs. He used this same con on Levy and tried to sell it to Adam Carolla. That's why Jackie had to have a shitty contract with plugs in it and shit...and it's why Artie was working the road incessantly despite his health and addiction problems. The money was rolling in throughout the 90s and up until Jackie left--Howard should have paid him a solid fucking salary, cut out most of the plugs, commercials, etc. and be done with it. Howard is the LAST motherfucker on the planet to criticize Jackie about wanting to be paid fairly--Howard is a litigious prick and sues people who paid him HALF A BILLION DOLLARS to work 4 days a week.
Any true Stern fan who happens to see Jackie at one of these things should go up to him and give him a bag of weed (since he quit drinking) as a small "thank you" for all the fucking hilarious radio he gave us. Holy shit, it just riles me up that people forget or can't see what a major asset he was to the show.
