I prefer the 1$ = 1 Vote concept. Obviously the extremely wealthy are smarter and better at financial matters, and they are the Job Providers, so it stands to reason that they should be given much more influence than some dumbass who works 2 shifts a WalMart and doesn't even have his own insurance.
Agreed. I am still not sure why they pay these people per hour...why not make it per 2 hours?
this statement does not seem to take into consideration those who take more out of the tax system through the EIC than is withheld in any payroll taxes they might be "paying"
Oh joy, joy....I get to teach you about taxes.
- First, the Child Tax Credit & EIC are what Republicans usually cry about during the debate about the 47%'ers....and the CTC was started in 1997...under an All-Republican Congress? Interesting....EIC goes back further with both parties.
- Second, payroll taxes bring in almost as much money as the individual income tax of the poor....but you knew that, right? If you include payroll taxes, it turns out that only 18 percent of households pay no direct federal taxes.
- Third, as has been pointed out a few million times, the majority of people who don't pay either income or payroll taxes are the elderly largely because (a) Social Security benefits aren't taxable for most beneficiaries and (b) many of the elderly no longer work. Almost all of the other households that don't pay direct federal taxes make less than $20,000 per year.
So, the Republicans way of solving the debt is to.....tax those making under $20,000 some more? Well, that ought to just raise a few thousand! That will fix the debt!
i see "progressive" and "conservative", not "democrat" and "republican", mostly because we are all republicans as we live in a republic, and are not democrats as we do not live in a democracy. the terms republican and democrat are therefore vague, ambiguous and confusing.
progressive = government can and will do better for the people than they can do on their own
conservative = let's stick to the gameplan, separation of powers, limited government, constitution as amended, etc.
