Is Howard Jealous Of Imus? What Kind Of Question Is That? 04/12/07
6:15amThe caller on the line with the joint said he was done rolling so he asked Howard if he is jealous of Imus' publicity lately. Howard said absolutely not. He wouldn't want to end his radio career on a racist comment like that. He said that this is a long time coming with Imus and he's really not a good person. He said he's an anti-Semite and a racist. He talked about how he had complained about Imus back at NBC when he saw Imus call a woman the N-word right in front of him but management told him to go fuck himself and didn't do anything about it.
Howard said he thinks that tomorrow could be Imus' final show on his current station and that will be it. The caller on the line said that there were some people fighting about getting Imus on the air out in Pittsburgh though. Howard didn't believe that at all. He said he was talking to a few guys yesterday about what's been going on and he really thinks that Imus was never funny and was just trying to be him.
The caller said that his question about jealousy was based on Imus being on terrestrial radio and he said that Howard says racist stuff on satellite and that's kind of expected. Howard told the guy there's a difference between what Imus did and what he does. He's not calling people names when he does race humor, he's having fun with it while Imus is calling people names. He said that the best thing in all of this is that Imus' wife had to cancel her book tour because of this controversy. Howard thinks that she's giving Imus shit now that he's ruined that for her.
Howard brought up this guy Claus Von Bulow and how he managed to get out of town after being accused of killing someone and now he's having a great life in some other country. Meanwhile OJ Simpson is sticking around and flaunting his stuff in everyone's face. Maybe Imus should get out of town.
Howard said that Imus will not return from his suspension and he will stick to that prediction. The caller asked him if he's happy about that. Howard asked Robin if there's something better than happiness. She gave him a few words that were a little better than happiness. Howard said he's not really sure it's happiness but he does enjoy watching all of this stuff unfold. He said he predicted that Imus would lose his job and he thinks he will also lose his wife. The caller thinks that Howard is happy about because on some level he is competing with him. Howard said he never competed with Imus because he had no talent, ever.
Howard said Imus' wife is a very motivated Yenta and blowing and fucking that guy can't be fun on any level. He said that's why she will leave him eventually.
He talked about the people he's had on the show who worked at Imus' ranch and had some horror stories about that. He thinks that Imus is half senile now and that's what his problem is. He also doesn't think that any of Imus' team will ever work near him. He said that everyone on that show has done something in the past that would prevent that. He said that Charles McCord is a no talent motherfucker who used to give him attitude back when they were working at NBC. He said when their ratings went up, that's when Charles was willing to talk to him.
Howard said that Bernard McGuirk was another one who would call him begging for a job and then go on the air at Imus' show. He told that guy to go fuck himself and to never come to satellite looking for a job. Howard said that they have major problems at that radio company (Viacom) with their 0.0 morning team and now Imus. Howard said that all of this brings him to the Radio Hall of Fame and how they can't have a hall of fame without him. He said it's just a Hall of Lame without him in it.
Howard said that Imus' wife Deirdre was on Good Morning America before all of this stuff went down. He played an audio clip of that interview. She was talking about how Imus used to be an alcohol and drug addict so she had to keep all of these household chemicals away from him. The guys stopped that tape and goofed on him about that stuff. The caller said he thinks that all of this stuff will help him out in the long run. Howard disagreed and said that being a racist will not help him out in the long run.
Howard said that he will never whither away in public like Imus has done. He said he's going to retire while he's still strong.
Howard said that Imus should have gotten off the air 5 years ago and he could have retired in peace. Now he won't be able to go to a restaurant without a black guy shitting in his food. The caller thinks that Artie is a racist as well but Howard said Artie is using that as humor and he's not a racist. The caller thinks that Artie's stand-up act is racist but Howard said he's really not a racist.
