Howard's two year contract with AGT is up and soon we can expect to hear him spin his way out of why he won't be returning, most likely they expected too much of him and he has too much going on in his life. He'll probably try and endear himself to the radio listeners by saying it took too much time away from the radio show. So let's remember the legacy of Howard's AGT experience:
Howard took over for Piers Morgan on a show that had increased it's ratings the three previous years ending the 2011 season with an all time high for it's finale.
Howard was given a Super Bowl promo where he appeared without the other judges.
AGT premieres in 2012 down 30% in the ratings and never recovers
Howard was named "Loser of the Summer" by Entertainment Weekly for his AGT work
AGT records the lowest rating in it's 8 year history (1.9) during the late summer of 2012
AGT has the lowest rated finale of it's history in 2012
Formerly #1 AGT loses the ratings race to MasterChef and Hell's Kitchen late in the 2012 season
Against Howard's wishes NBC adds a fourth judge to AGT for 2013 further diminishing Howard's air time.
Against Howard's wishes for Rosie O'Donnell, Heidi Klum and Mel B are chosen as judges
AGT 2013 NEVER has a week at #1, a show that two seasons before was #1 EVERY week it was on
AGT 2013 has weeks when it isn't even in the weekly top ten
Howard's plan to turn the AGT gig into another network show: DEAD AND BURIED
