Post great examples of 1950s/1960s architecture and signs from where you live
Still existing or not...like this one. This was the Kon Tiki Hotel and it used to be on 24th Street and Van Buren in Phoenix until it was demolished. There is a hideous car dealership there now, I think.
I post this sign because it is in the town that I grew up in, and it is the one thing that has endured in 50 plus years. This is where we got our stove, refrigerators, etc. I applaud them because over the years my humble town became snooty and upscale, and the newcomers often tsk tsk about how the sign should be "updated" to their higher standards. I love how the store just won't give in to them and sacrifice this little piece of nostalgia!
