Disgraced Long Island attorney Dominic Barbara, once lawyer to the infamous, has again been arrested -- this time he is accused of choking a woman.
Nassau County police said Barbara was arrested at his home in Williston Park late Sunday and charged with obstruction of breathing.
The arrest, made at 11 p.m., came after a woman, whose identity was not released, filed a complaint at the Third Precinct on Hillside Avenue in Williston Park, police said.
The woman told them she had been at Barbara's home, that the two had gotten into a verbal argument and that Barbara "puts his hands around her throat and applies pressure." Barbara soon released his grip, police said, and the woman was able to flee.
Barbara, 67, is currently facing charges stemming from earlier run-ins with the law.
Those involve a larceny charge that Barbara shoplifted a Yves Saint Laurent pocketbook worth $1,400 from the high-end boutique Hirshleifers in the Americana Manhasset Mall and also that he harassed, stalked and tried to extort $200,000 from an ex-wife.
Barbara rose to fame representing a range of infamous clients, including Jessica Hahn, the church secretary from Massapequa who brought down televangelist Jim Bakker when she said he drugged her and raped her, as well as Joey Buttafuoco, whose teen lover, Amy Fisher, put a bullet into wife Amy Jo ButtAfuoco's head.
More recently, Barbara had represented the widower of the woman who drove drunk the wrong way on the Taconic State Parkway, killing seven others.
Barbara faces arraignment Monday in First District Court in Hempstead.
