The Howard fans are so conspiracy-minded. I looked on the message board before I came here and everyone seemed insane. Some people thought Robin was never sick and she was under house arrest the whole time. Others are really fixated on you. They think there's some broader conspiracy to explain why you haven't been on the show.
I'm sure. I mean, it's simple enough. He just doesn't need anything nutty to happen . . . But some of that stuff on the Internet is scary. Robin under house arrest! What do they think she did?
Oh, I don't know Artie, maybe start an extremely shady charity with an extremely shady person who then split from the charity under extremely shady circumstances. Being diagnosed as a pathological narcissist and soliciting funds from every person you know and then spending it on luxurious vacations all over the world under the guise of "working for the charity". Then after a brief discussion of a hospital visit/illness she disappears for 15 months while the rest of the staff avoids the subject while trying to pretend nothing is going on? Or how about wiggy? An obscenely wealthy disk jockey who's recently been investigated by the SEC for possible stock scamming and insider trading (not to mention other investigations by the DEA, IRS and who knows what other government acronyms)? The same guy who picked as his life partner an equally deceitful and selfish girl who was raised by a father convicted of embezzlement and medicare fraud? Why would anyone think along these lines?
Questioning someone's honesty is "insane"? Am I supposed to be intimidated by that? Some journalist saying anybody who might question a mentally ill woman's motives or a drug addict's honesty is "insane"? Uh oh, I'm being told I'm not thinking inside the "acceptable boundaries", I'm not "with the group" according to the writer, I better run back before people start calling me names. This article reminds me why I stopped liking Artie, not to mention Rolling Stone.

I like Artie but he is sounding a bit delusional. I doubt clubs and theaters are paying him $50,000 a show. At his height of popularity he was still doing a show that had material that was repeated for 3 years in a row. The way he got away with it is he would travel across the country and use the Stern Show to promote it.
Second, I still don't buy the idea that he cut himself and drank bleach to get high. This was right when the Stern Show suspended him and he was at rock bottom. You don't cut your wrists to get high.
I was surprised how often Artie referenced how much money is making and had make. It is like he is using that to show he has his shit together and is successful and has control of his life.
Gary should book him on the show. I doubt Howard is that worried about a 90 minute interview sending Artie into another blackhole.
Stern paid Artie $700,000 a year
the rest tubby claims to have made doing weekend gigs
Just shows you how disproportionate Howard's salary is compared to everyone else including his main talent which Artie was while he was on the show. We know he pays JD, Lisa G and all the other hanger ons peanuts but being higher up on the pyramid of stern you still don't get that much more compared to what he rakes in.
Hm. I have to agree that Artie sticking to this story makes me nervous for him. He should just come clean and tell people, "Hey, I was so low I didn't want to be alive anymore so I tried to kill myself." This shit about self-induced hemorrhaging to get some shut-eye invalidates every claim he makes that he's doing better.
Still a big fat giant baby that doesn't tell the truth....
Why the Artie hate? He saved Stern's ass from becoming almost as irrelevant in 2002 as he is today. I know KC and S John were better characters than Ronnie, JD, Benjy, Lisa G and Jon Hein, but without Artie, Stern would probably be a few hundred million dollars poorer today.
