Based on THSS being contracted to do 112 show this year.
If he's leaving, I wonder if he'll give a heads up to the staff? I'd guess no. They will all be on their own.
10 shows left? That's like 4 months at ol' H100.
When he made the announcement in December of 2010 that he'd signed on for five more years, it was a surprise to everyone on the staff. He made it clear that he had worked out a deal, and that Robin and the others would also need to work out a deal if they chose to stay. Imagine the bargaining power Robin and Fred had: the boss has signed on, he's gobbled up all the money for himself, and you are rapidly running out of time. Just sign here and be happy to accept whatever Howard says he's willing to give you.
...i hope he leaves with his head hanging lower than it did while leaving agt. i havent listened in months and even i cant wait until he leaves. the guy sold out millions of fans and tried to become a sensitive pretty boy with a heart as big as a kitten sanctuary. fuck off howard, fall into an elevator pit.
Very different from other contract ends, no ranting and raving, no negotiating on the air etc...... Either he uneventfully signed a new contract with Sirius or is moving on with a very restrictive gag clause in his Sirius contract.
I don't for a second believe that's how that happened, that contract was done long before the announcement was made. Since Buchwald also represents Robin, Fred etc.....he has a fiduciary responsibility to keep them apprised of the situation and to put them in a position where they get the best deal available, other wise he is in breach of his contract to represent them. I imagine with Robin's health situation Buchwald has kept her more in the loop than ever. The tension on the air was simply a bit to provide cheap, easy content and keep the remaining ten fans interested.
I also noticed a distinct lack of complaining about him not knowing what he's going to do. I agree that he already has some sort of deal or exit plan.
This is the most likely scenario. But then again Howard loves not to know.
If staying was a done-deal, he would have been crowing about it. If he was leaving, he'd be promoting his next shit-show.
That means that they're still negotiating and SXM is playing hardball.
The contract is one thing that I bet Howard micromanages, he wants no breaks in paycheck and he wants to know the exact amount of that check. As much money as he has, the thought of not having a check coming in every month is unfathomable to him.
Never in show history has he mentioned a new contract before the final week or so of the old one no matter when it was made final. And no way SiriusXM was dumb enough to not prevent another "eh-eh-eh" situation by contractually restricting his ability to promote a new venture.
No need to comment on this, I just want the Stern staff that watch this site to see the thread.
After what he did to the GunkTV crew, they should be prepared.
I'm sure they all know what is in the future, I'm just shocked there has been no leaks yet! where is the magic pickle jar when you need it?
Howard is well-known for taking contract negotiations down to the wire. And I think Robin and Fred are truly in the dark. Buchwald will always favor his breadwinner client, who happens to be their boss. They'll never get Buchwald's full commitment, but they also know it's better to have a half-committed Buchwald than a fully-committed non-Buchwald (like Jackie had).
He's a motherfucker with what he has done to his fanbase, but I in no way believe that he would fuck his "team" over like that. They have known since at least Halloween, if not sooner. This is where that NDA comes into place. They also know that if they let the cat out of the bag while working for him they won't get work anywhere else. This would be a good question to ask Artie. He wasn't around when they resigned for this deal, but he must have had something built into his contract for when that time came up.
And I'd say an easy half-dozen repackaged best-of show fillers for "DAWK" time. Aka all-the-time
I disagree. I'd guess Robin, Fred, and Gary might have advanced warning, but that's it.
