those guys were real men. dammit.
Real stupid, but real men.
no faggity GPS for them!
i bet they might have resorted to some less than manly things during their six month expeditions. you have to satisfy those urges. cool pics.
No offense, but thats what you think of when you see these pics?
No scarves either.
i was just trying to be contradictory.....and it came out really gay sounding.
I like the guys pose in this photo. If that were taken today the person would be pointing at the ice and making stupid smiley faces. However, his stance is more natural. It speaks of being "cold, bored and pissed off".
oh for fuck sake....
fucking cool as pictures and you come up with that?
Why is there water in that picture? Was the iceberg melting? Was there global warming 100 years ago? Hmmm...
I remember watching a documentary about Shackleton's voyage on The Endurance that got stuck in the ice. It's the most incredible story of survival I've ever heard. The ship got stuck in (and eventually crushed by) the ice in 1914. That any of the crew lived to tell about it is remarkable, especially when you consider the lack of technology they possessed. Their equipment was heavy and their clothes were shit compared to the mountaineering clothes of today. They had a photographer who painstakingly documented the entire ordeal and saved the negatives. People who travel to those extremes today are nuts. Those guys back then were tough as nails.
I'd like to see that documentary. People who went off into the unknown and explored were really brave and stupid. They took the precautions they had back then but it sure wasn't enough for most to live through. Thanks for the info, as I will try to check that out, Droog.
Wow that's pretty fucking cool. Real men. I wonder if they left that as a momento like the astronaut that left a photo of his family on the moon.
