OCONTO, Wis. -- State and federal authorities have arrested seven people and seized about $15 million dollars worth of marijuana that was growing in Oconto County.
The bust announced Wednesday was the third in as many summers in the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest.

Ed Wall, of the state Division of Criminal Investigation, said the investigation began in June after a tip from a fisherman. About 200 federal, state, tribal and local officers have been involved in the case. Investigators are still trying to find out how long marijuana was being grown in the area along the Oconto River.

which probably equates to 40 plants, weighted wet, with their roots and substrate they were growing in....

When cops say they got a $15Mil crop, you can automatically take 5 zeros off the end.

Pot is harvested in late Sept-Early Nov. The pot is worthless until its mature and done growing...

    fucking pig math.

That's pretty much a daily event for me. I am a FedEx delivery driver. The county Sheriff's office has drug dogs pretty much stationed at the terminal where I load and a detective is there when the local trucks are loading. So far this week I've had to open for the detective 7 boxes that were about to be loaded on my truck that the dogs "hit" on. ALL 7 contained illegal drugs, 5 were pot, 1 heroin and 2 meth. I jokingly tell people that I'm the biggest drug dealer in town and don't know it when I deliver the drugs.

FedEx doesn't get into trouble for that, do they? I mean, does FedEx have a responsibility to dog-sniff their packages before they transport them?

Nope. We have what I think they call "right of possession". We allow the authorities to come in with or without dogs and look all they want to. They still have to prove probable cause. The detectives are very careful about that part. The dogs give them probable cause. If the dogs do hit on a box then the box is opened and inspected by the driver with a terminal management team member observing. I have witnessed the dogs falsely report a box but that is a rare thing. They do tell us drivers that suspicious packages should be reported and inspected before leaving the terminal. Something to do with chain of custody. If we open it and find illegal substances in it AFTER we leave the terminal it's easy for a 10 cent lawyer to get any charges tossed. Just remembered, I have no clue what happens to the box full of drugs once we find it and I don't care.
