I did not pay this, but a family friend brought her SUV to her favorite local garage and this is what they charged her.

She has an Oldsmobile Bravada (2004?) and they told her because it was an SUV, they had to put a "special heavy duty" type of battery in it.

I told her she got hosed. She said she likes them, they treat her well, and they had to charge that much "because they will back up their work if something is wrong with the battery."

I should mention that she is a senior citizen with no husband or kids.

Would it be out of line for me to call there and blast them for taking advantage of her?

I think she might feel embarrassed if she found out. I would want to do the same thing, but it depends on what she wants.

A lot of 'work ' installing those car batteries... Good thing they back it up

My plumber offers a similar guarantee every time I call him over to install a new roll of toilet paper on the toilet paper holder

Yes you should call them and "blast" them for charging her a battery that was probably supposed to cost about that much.

I paid 90 for a very middle of the road battery. If it lasts four or five years that's acceptable.

Our last battery was over $100.00 for a 2007 Matrix which was purchased in 2006. First time we ever replaced the battery.

I'm sure mechanic shops love it when somebody calls them to let them know they are huge rip offs, before researching anything. "Listen , I talked to the people at Dawgs , and they agree , you ripped off that old lady".

You should call the gas station she goes to and "blast" them for charging $4.01 per gallon.
