Old Yankee Stadium in color. Perfection.
"I ran on the field when the game was over, Howard."
I like historic time pieces such as this.
Man. I love old film in color. Really gives the past an immediacy that color doesn't.
There are some fantastic OP Overlord and D-Day videos on YouTube. An event so weighted in history and the films just show regular men performing their duties. It really humanizes everything.
The House That Ruth Built. I love baseball.
Not "color." It was the Negro League. You could say stuff like that back then.
Back in my day, baseball was like a western.
Back in my day, we drank coffee. Because that is what we drank. Back in my day....
To think that this place was torn down in the name of luxury seats is disgusting.
By bulldozing the old Stadium Steinbrenner destroyed a part of America. The Roman Coliseum of the 20th century and the United States.
How some historians and others who work at preserving our county's history didn't step up and intervene is baffling.
For god sakes, I live in a condo built in 1905 and when we replaced our windows with up to date "green windows" we had to jump through numerous hoops to put in what the historical society deemed were appropriate to the original character of the building
Crazy how most are wearing hats.
Few people know that Great Grandpa Booey threw out the ceremonial first pitch.
I like Citifield way better than the New Yankee Stadium. It's just a cold feeling, concrete bowl. They should've just revamped the old Yankee stadium. Teams got nervous playing in there. The new Yankee stadium has nothing behind it.
Is that a team mascot in a tailcoat on the mound, throwing practice pitches? He takes a funny fall.
This stuff is beautiful but it makes me so sad. My grandfather was a minor league pitcher, and I had a souvenir program for the World Series that was thrown by the Black Sox. It wasn't for *the* game, but I think it was for game two. My grandfather kept the box score in the program, and in its pages my grandmother kept a telegram he had sent her inviting her to go with him to the game--"don't fail me" it said. My mother gave it to me, and when I got really mad at my mother, I gave it to my cousin, her brother's son. And now I wish I had it back.
...and very poorly.
looks like just another shitty baseball game...repost when you get the shitty audio fixed, lasertits.
Ahh, an intellectual, I see....
Not my video. Another genius post from the Shed loser, YokoOhNo.
He's just a bad troll mult. No one pays attention to him here or in life so he just goes on the board trashing people and threads so he can get some kind of attention. I'd donate for him but he's a mult and he might not know what to do with positive attention.
don't feed the trolls, lasertit!
Relax, I would never get that close to your mother.
