I fucking KNEW IT ! I knew it was Florida. Carny workers.....
I like that episode of Three's Company - Diamond Jack - that sees our Jack meeting Rita at the roller rink. But Rita is more than what Jack bargained for!
That's where we went to get weed with seeds, warm beer and stink finger. Fucking loved every minute of it. Most you will never know.
brought a tear to me eye...
Back on the good old days when your parents didn't give a shit what you were doing as long as you got back home on time.
The roller skating rink was the place to be. All of the good looking chicks from school and ones from other schools at one place.
Always weed and beer there.
They turned the one that I used to go to into a banquet hall a long time age.
As long as they knew I wasn't at the skating rink.
I had a friend who worked there. Him and his brother used to come and get me to head over there.
We were like 14 years old and they would both show up to the front door smoking cigarettes.
They both looked way older and never had any trouble getting served.
My parents liked them both so I never caught too much shit about going to the skating rink.
this thread reminded me of a couple i knew in the 70s. she was a figure skating roller skater! i didn't know there was such a thing but there was.
it took me a few minutes to remember their last name but i just looked them up and facebooked their asses. oh the things we used to do.
Every Thursday was adult night at Skater's World in Jersey..circa 1989...but they let me and my BFF in at 15 years old!!..And we were POPULAR at the roller rink..unlike high school
Great times...wanna skate, now
I'm from a relatively small town in OR. I don't think anybody was allowed at the skating rink after dark because of the legendary and blatant debauchery that took place there that the whole town had either experienced 1st hand or had heard about.
No, the place to be was BEHIND the skating rink after dark. Yes.
The 70s seemed cool.
I was a kid in the 80s
We take our kids on rare occasion now... I'm sure I've seen a few of you holdouts that can't let go.
I was just old enough to go at the end of the 70's
I don't remember the older kids looking so goofy
though i'm sure I thought they were very cool at the time
I bet some of you remember Hot Skates on Long Island.
I don't remember skating too much. They played disco and after everybody decided it sucked you wouldn't get caught dead skating to it. If you did you risked not being able to hang out with the kids with the weed and the KISS shirts.
Easy to be popular when giving out handy's in the dark corners.
