This thread brings back a lot of memories.
Back in the day I went to WVU to get my bachelor's degree. Being an out-of-state student from Massachusetts, I was never exposed to much country music. When I got there I was shocked to know that there was an offshoot of MTV devoted entirely to Country music (CMT). It took a while but it really grew on me over time.
The one thing that really stands out watching some of these videos is an observation a friend of mine who was also out-of-state (Maryland) made - how different these videos were in comparison to the stuff you'd see on MTV in terms of how women were treated. In country music videos (at least back then) women were treated with respect and were not put into videos as props to shake their behinds. In terms of the music, women were treated, in general, with a lot more respect.
Anyway, thanks for the trip down memory lane.
