We recieved reports on Friday that Adam McKay (Anchorman, Step Brothers, The Other Guys), Rawson Marshall Thurber (We're The Millers) and Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland) were the frontrunners to take over the director's chair for Marvel's Ant-Man from Edgar Wright. Now Ain't It Cool News has learned that Marvel Studios has made an offer to McKay and that he is talks to take the job...

UPDATE: Well, this isn't good. Adam McKay was said to be in advanced talks last night, but now The Hollywood Reporter says he has pulled out of the negotiations.

They keep redoing the script. You know it's bad when even the guy who does Will Ferrell movies doesn't want a part of it. :jj:

Source: "Kevin Feige (and his lieutenants) run Marvel with a singularity of vision, but when you take a true auteur and throw him into the mix, this is what you get. They don't want you to speak up too much or have too much vision."

They said the same thing about Iron Man.

Ant Man is needed to introduce Ultron - same way Cap1 was needed to introduce the Tesseract.

When they can turn the Mandarin into what they did they can easily introduce Ultron without Ant Man by retconning it into an Iron Man suit that gains sentience (via Jarvis) through some freak accident or some shit.

Losing Edgar is fucking major. Dude is a film genius. They have no where to go but down from there, especially considering how many years he's been working on it.

Sure, but Marvel(Disney) has to weigh that against the shit they'll catch when they push forward and make a shitty Ant-Man movie

I don't think anyone said the same thing about Iron Man.

    1) A guy in a robot suit that shoots lasers.
    2) A guy who shrinks and rides an ant.

One of these sounds like a blockbuster, the other does not.

Well, they fucked up Amazing Spiderman 2, so I can see them eventually fucking up The Avengers franchise as well. And enough with putting Stan Lee in every fucking movie. He's almost more annoying than the Wilhelm Scream.

Why is society so far removed from reality that they lap up super hero movies like "ant-man" with out question. Is it because I worked outside and toiled that I honestly don't give a shit about super heros? Or am I just a dick. I get the latter alot.

***edit I stand by my 500th post!
