Sonuvabitch. This is the kind of death that you just curse and know that there is no god. The talent lost was immense. I loved the music drunk, straight, high....always. So now children, sit back and listen to the genius that was Stevie Ray Vaughn...

Guy played with massive gauge strings. Could probably crush billiard balls in his fretting hand.

He is the one guy who makes me debate buying a stratocaster (I have Fender amps, but never cared for stratocasters... must be a character flaw).

Just incredible talent and a great player, with maybe the best signature sound of all time.

The phenomenally talented SRV was the coolest performer ever. His story is so fucking tragic--depressing to even think about it. He was a god.

I can listen to his brilliant Travis Walk all day long:

You should see Buddy Guy while we still have him and while he can still perform. Last of the old school generation.

Double L's current mortal form is too young to have seen Stevie Ray live but I did see his bass player and drummer play with Kenny Wayne Shepherd.

A friend of mine saw Stevie Ray live and said that when he bent down with that hat covering his face and started to play, the crowd just went silent in awe. Said he knew he was watching the coolest guy alive. I always envied him that!

The ironic thing is that Double L's last mortal form WAS Stevie Ray Vaughan. Go figure.

Question. How do you guys like SRV's voice compared to his playing?
