30 years ago Leon "Gary" Plauche killed Jeff Doucet

    30 years ago in Baton Rouge, Leon "Gary" Plauche killed Jeff Doucet, who had kidnapped and sexually assaulted his son, Jody Plauche. The killing occurred on Friday, March 16, 1984, and it was captured on camera by a news television crew.

    Despite the fact that Plauche shot and killed Doucet, he was given five years probation for the shooting and received no jail time. The case received wide publicity due to the fact that many people questioned whether Plauche should be charged for murder or be let off. Plauche claims he was in the right, and that those in a similar position would have done the same thing.

    he may have been 'right' in the minds of many, to kill the man who molested his son, but in civilized societies we handle matters in courts. Not being punished for murder isnt acceptable. Courts are far from perfect, but it's the best system we have. In its absence lynch mobs and vendetta killing will return- which is much farther from perfect.

    Yes and in this court are six to twelve of your PEERS who judge you. If they judge it's acceptable to kill a child molester, then justice was done.

    Your world sounds very black and white and immature like a doodle. I really can't believe you just said you have to automatically be punished for murder.

    Man, I remember in school when people would come in to talk about molestation. It was weird. I always got the vibe from the dudes that they were a bit "funny", too.

    Shit, I just remembered how my cub scout denmother took us boys aside to talk about molestation. She talked about how she'd been molested by her uncle or some such.

    It was so fuckin' weird.
