49ers’ Colin Kaepernick fined $10K for headphones

    By Associated Press October 9
SANTA CLARA, Calif. — San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick said Thursday that he has been fined $10,000 by the NFL for the pink “Beats by Dre” brand name headphones he wore around his neck after Sunday’s game.

While Kaepernick has an endorsement deal with Beats and has done a commercial, the league’s contract is with Bose. Wearing the pink version for October breast cancer awareness month, Kaepernick knew he could be subject to a fine after the 22-17 win Sunday.

Yet it’s more than the $8,286 fine the Broncos’ Julius Thomas faces for a chop block on Cardinals defensive end Calais Campbell.

Kaepernick later took to Twitter to explain his decision and posted a photo of him with the headphones: “I support breast cancer awareness! My grandma is a survivor!”

He declined to say whether Beats would pick up the cost of his fine, saying, “we’ll let that be unanswered.”

Last month, Kaepernick announced he had been fined more than $11,000 and had appealed the penalty for what an official called “inappropriate language” by the quarterback following a fourth-quarter interception in a 28-20 loss to the Bears in the Sept. 14 home opener.

Kaepernick reiterated that he did nothing wrong when he and Chicago defensive end Lamarr Houston went at it — and Kaepernick pointed to Houston’s comments that the quarterback didn’t say anything offensive or out of line. Kaepernick shoved Houston.

In early June, Kaepernick — one of the NFL’s most dynamic young playcallers — received a $126 million, six-year contract extension that keeps him with the organization through the 2020 season. The deal includes $61 million in guaranteed money.

The sides had made it a top priority to get a deal done before the start of training camp.

    And?

They have rules, he was warned in the past, and he violated it. If the boss tells you to wear a pink bow tie everyday or you will get fined either wear it, accept the fines, or find a new job.

He should have been fined 100k for being a "man" and wearing pink headphones. Even I'm sick to death of the pink EVERYTHING in the NFL these days, jesus christ that's just what we want is our men to be dressed like Easter Bunnies and super sensitive..........

Amazing they still don't know that no one buys socks, headphones, or winter gloves because some athlete wears them. Amazing the money leagues spend on this crap advertising.

Are 49'er fans now all buying Levi jeans because San Fran took Levi's as their money stadium name? :snicker:.

Morons. Look at all the publicity the NFL is giving to Beats. Bose should sue them!

If he violated a rule and had been warned before, does anyone think this dickhead or the billion dollar Beats company will be hurt by a 10 grand fine? They probably spend that a month on advertisement.

If the NFL really wants to enforce their bullshit rules, suspend him for 3 games and see if he gets the message!

I think people buy them off of commercials, and friends having things and see or trying them. I just don't think people buy socks, head phones or whatever because an athlete wears them on a field. Or buys Levi's because a stadium is called Levi's. I think these companies were made billion dollar companies and customer established before these guys. I could be wrong. You're probably right. I think it's just a bit overboard these days. :dontknow:

Maybe. You're probably right. I don't know. I never bought anything because athletes wore them or bought a gas or jeans because a stadium is named after them. :dontknow:

Disagree. There are plenty of idiots that buy shit just because an athlete wears it. You might even say many....cultures.....:brotha:
