I realize many of the members in this forum no longer listen to THSS (for good reason), but in case you listen for other channels, I was able to renew Sirius today for 6 months for a total of $5. Not $5 per month, but $5 total! Just thought I would pass the info along.

I would never renew as long as Stern is on the channels.

I would consider renewing once he leaves in an effort to keep the numbers up for SXM 'Post Howard'.

ETA: I remember Ba Ba Fuckface responding to a question on the WUS when a caller asked what he thought would happen to SXM once Howard leaves and he said something like "Well, I would hope that SXM struggles or fails once Howard leaves". Fuck him and his crooked fucking ape face.

Did they offer or did you ask for their best deal? Also I wouldn't be surprised if the Filipina was mistake about being a one time fee.

I guess if they are desperate they need to keep numbers so they can generate advertising money.

They just offered. I used serious reverse logic and told her I was canceling because Howard was not renewing, and she immediately offered six months for $5. Call center was definitely in India, but of course her name was 'Jenny'. I could barely understand her, but I made her go over the details twice.....$5 for the total of six months. I could see on my iPhone Apple pay that they charged my card while we were speaking.

I read recently that SXM has something like 28M subscribers and about 8.7M are new car trials.

I'm not sure if the new car trials include Stern.

Watch your credit card please. At least in our case, when they had our number, they charged over the agreed amount.

I had to. BUT I learned several years ago to only give them AMEX. Every time they 'renew' without sending me any info, I have AMEX reverse the charges. Visa/MC won't fight as hard on your behalf. AMEX just reverses the charges.

I would bet most trials don't renew and the only way to get more is for car companies to include Sirius on future new cars, but I heard they are not doing that now, especially with Wifi coming in to cars

What they did to us, was as our first year was coming to an end (when we used to pay hundreds/year), they charged $1.00 on our credit card just to see if it was still valid so they could really screw us if I did not call by the end of our contract.

I never charged any amount with them since that. It costs $2.00 more for them to send a bill, but that was worth it when we still subscribed.

Considering how many of the stations have commercials, the service for commercial channels ought to be free. Let people who want commercial free to pay for it and also charge people who want things like sports. The writing is on the wall for Sirius. There is not going to be a compelling reason to subscribe if all they offer is exactly what people are getting for free streaming off the internet.

I come here almost everyday, and almost always find someone/something funny. However, there seems to be some raging a-holes on here and I don't want to spend all day on some meaningless back and forth.

I only posted the renewal info so maybe some people could save money if they wanted to renew.

I'm pretty sure they count the "30 Day Trial" subs as well when they quote to advertisers.

You don't have to pay to use the radio as a paperweight.

Agree, I had it for 3 months when I bought my car. I could not believe how poor the audio quality was for music. Streaming Pandora through my phone sounds waaay better. SiriusXM music quality is marginally better than FM radio but not even close to CD or even phone streaming.
