How great was the music scene back then! Good scene, great bands, great shows and staying up late for headbangers ball! I've been missing that scene a lot recently. Iron Maiden has always been a favorite of mine. Post your favorite band and memories from that time/scene.

You shouldn't confuse bands like GNR or Metallica with all that candyass faggotry (Poison, "the Crüe", Bon Jovi, Ratt,Whitesnake, etc ) just because they all had long hair. Just imagining Brett Michaels' cocksucker pout makes my fists tighten.

I have went back and watch a ton of headbangers ball. Loved Dimebag on there.

Edit: I guess pantera is more 90's even though I think they started as a hair metal band.

Razor were from the small Canadian town I grew up in. they were fairly big in Canada and very well respected world wide in the "metal community" (and still are) but never really broke through in America. they put out maybe 8 or 9 albums throughout the 80s and early 90s, toured with Slayer, Motorhead, and a bunch of other big bands. really great band.

this album came out in 2006 but it sounds like pure 70s/80s heavy metal and hard rock. people are still making good music, even if it's not overly original.

Wow. I really liked that! Will have to check 'em out.

I was a kid in the 80's, but I remember hanging out with my cousin, who was a few years older, and listening to all the big 80's hair bands, like Poison, Cinderella, Motley Crue, GNR etc.

Crue in particular. Still love their stuff.

years ago, i was with some friends hanging out in mission delores park on a rare hot summer day in san francisco. anyway, the park was jam-packed full of scenesters and hipsters, all trying way too hard.

then suddenly, a scruffy-haired middle-aged guy appeared, sporting high cut-off jean shorts and a muscle shirt. he made his way through the crowd of pale uber-cool sunbathers whilst carrying on his shoulder the world's biggest silver ghetto-blaster (straight from the 1980s). he was playing the following song at full-blast.

    it was fooking brilliant...

Gnr w/ Aerosmith was as metal as I got. I liked Metallica up til black, but never was into slayer or Motörhead, although I appreciate their music. I listen to just about any genre that's done we'll.
