Reviews please... How long is it?
I saw the NYTimes review, said it was too long, (close to 3 hours) and is part one of a trilogy. Didn't think there was that much to the Hobbit to make three long films out of it.
def going to see it this week
I went to see (dragged rather, not my cup of tea) every Lord of the Rings movie at the theater and fell asleep at all three. So, I won't be going to see the Hobbit...My brother took his kids to it this weekend and they all enjoyed it, though...my guess if you are a LOTR/Peter Jackson fan, you can't go wrong.
Saw it. Loved it! Best movie I've seen in 2012.
I heard it was a trilogy, thanks for the confirmation.
Really? I want to like it because I did like the LOTR trilogy, and Martin Freeman was great in the Office and Ali G in Da House. It just looks.....boring. I might wait until it's out on DVD.......
Clocks in at 2 hrs., 50 mins.
I could see Jackson making a pair of 2 hour movies, no way the material merits an 8+ hour trilogy.
Reviews are mostly mediocre: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0903624/criticreviews
It's not boring at all. Have you read the book? I read it in HS but still remembered quite a bit. Tons of cool scenes and CGI is so much better than LOTR (which is something like 10 years old now!).
Some people think the frame-rate of the movie is too fast (it's 48fps, double the regular) but I think this is the future of filmmaking.
Anyway, I went with 3 friends and we all loved it.
I hear it has 109 n-words in it.
Plus the 20 minutes of ads and previews, plan the whole day. Is this the one about a midget?
While Entertainment Weekly gave it a B+ (their movie reviews are not to be trusted IMO), I have also heard the reviews are only fair.
I heard a complaint about the frame rate. How does it look different? I heard on one hand that it's more realistic.
hobbits are fing little racists
Well in that case, where do I sign up???
2:46, I think.
I'll see it in a couple weeks after the crowds die down a bit.
A consistant gripe through most of the criticism is that it spends too much time fleshing out the larger mythology which belongs to the 'Lord of the Rings' books and loses the momentum of the story it's supposed to be telling.
yea I am leery of the 48 fps as well I hear you can see it w/o this not sure if I have seen this option just imax 3d and reg....Google 48fps vidoe for an example its hard to explain
the theatre near my place is showing it in IMAX in bit frame rates - im going to the 48fps for sure it should look amazing
I don't remember the last time I saw a movie in theaters probably the first Iron Man
That's because going to the theater sucks. I like the idea of going to the theater, but when you actually get there your shoes stick to the floor from ju ju bees, and then the fucks in front of you are talking or texting...... Plus, what if you have to fart?????
