Touchdown! An 89-year-old World War II veteran scored during an alumni flag football game at The University of Kansas that brought back memories of his heyday playing on the Kansas Football team during the 1946-1948 seasons.

I found that unintentionally condescending to veterans.

I don't think he has a pro career ahead of him unless he hooks up with the Bears or the Dolphins.

No wonder Kansas couldn't beat South Dakota State on Saturday. Did you guys see that video? Their running back is slow as shit and their defense can't tackle to save their lives!

Do you know how old you have to be now in order to have served in WWII?

I think some old guys are fakers. The math:

The war was OVER in August 1945. It was over a few months earlier in Europe. That's over 70 years ago.

You had to be 18 years old to enlist. There was training involved before you were plopped into theater somewhere, and most people never were on the front lines.

So if by some very extreme set of circumstances you enlisted at age 18, joined the army, trained for six months and were sent to theater and saw action of any kind, you'd need to be:

    70+ 18 + 6months + 1 day of action = 88 years + 6 months + 1 day (Pacific only)

And that's the most extreme possible scenario.

So the guy might have been barely old enough to be around during the end of WWII, but I highly doubt he's a "veteran" of WWII. My grandfather was a vet, but he died a while ago.
