She looked human back then!
I really did like Joan. You gotta give it to anyone who's honest and say's exactly what they're thinking even if it's not the most popular opinion
as greg giraldo said, "Joan, you used to look your age; now you don't even look your species!"
favorite and most ballsy (no pun intended) joan rivers moment ever
Oops, never mind.
Good night, annoying funny plastic man
one thing i have to admire about Joan is how much she loves her daughter. Howard almost pretends he doesnt have kids so I admire Joan for being a good loving mother even if its too over bearing
probably stems from her husband killing himself and leaving them two alone
Didn't like her 12 appearances per year on THSS, but she was pretty amazing and I didn't think she'd go out like she did.
@Stern68 did Howard launch Joan's real stardom?
Yes, without a doubt, his platform of 20+ million listeners gave her huge name recognition and his handling of her on the show made her appear to be a can't miss ticket. One of many comedic careers Howard is responsible for... Kinison, Rock, O'Neal, C.K., Barr, Goodman, Handler, Cummings, Ross, Lampignelli, Gottfried.......
Joan was a jew
So???? A lot if parents are over protective!
She definitely had some good years left in her. But she was in her eighties, lived a full life with people she loved and, in the end, went to sleep and just never woke up. There are certainly worse ways to go.
I watched some episodes tonight of "Joan and Melissa". Before I was turned off by the writers stories about not being paid fairly, some things she has said about others that seemed nasty and crusty, and thought she may be a big self entitled B. After watching her show though I like her a lot more. Her story about making it in show business, her work ethic, her husband killing himself and having to endure that, coupled with how much she loves her daughter and grandson warmed me up to her. She's really funny, and unlike Howard seems way more devoted to her family and worked 3 or 4 jobs until the day she died. I know she's already rich but seeing an 80 year old work her ass off doing stand up, selling jewelry and doing reality shows is really respectable and endearing. Not only that but she makes me laugh!
I also thought she doesn't treat the writers well, but they are featured on her show and are all friends with her. I thought she didn't have a good sense of humour about herself as well but she does, at least on the show. On the Melissa and Joan episode I watched it was her 78th bday and Melissa asked her what she wanted and Joan said "cyanide" lol. She really has so many good qualities compared to Howard. Her "reality" show is clearly scripted but its also really funny. Def worth checking out. I also like that Joan never "evolved" even at 81 and unlike Howard, even with her writers suing her she still is a lot more charitable than Howard apparently paying for the children of people who work for her to go to private school as well as real animal charities as well as other charities.
Life is so hard unless you laugh.
