As recently as the 1970's, there were hundreds of localities, and places with very descriptive names, such as: Reggie creek, coon head hollow, Reggie town...

I was always bemused by Jungle Bunny Junction down in Mississippi.
That's in France. In the US--the US, mind you--there is a tiny town in WV named for a place where children were burned alive as sacrifices to the Dark Lords: Tophet, WV, in Summers County, near where I was born.

If If may be so bold, in the middle ages, a small segment of the Jewish faith, practiced blood sacrifices, as well sex with children above the age of 3yo, this practice was 2 of several reasons why jews were expelled from Europe...
