These pictures are two years old. I don't know the condition of the park now. Could be condos there for all I know. But I was looking through them and thought I'd make a thread to share them with you. Plus I'm bored.

Lincoln Park was an amusement park in Dartmouth, MA that was closed in 1987 and fenced off to rot and burn for the last 23 years. As a kid I would make a trip to Lincoln Park every summer right up until they finally closed. Some of my fondest memories come from those trips. For the last few years I've been wanting to go and visit the park before they finally tear it down and put up condos or Home Depot/Olive Garden complexes. It was quite an experience. A little sad, a little nostalgic, a little creepy, but most of all interesting.

I parked on a side street with no traffic or houses around.

I squeezed through a hole in the chain link fence and walked across the former parking lot. What's left of the roller coaster is in the distance.

The cement pylons on the left were the footings for the huge yellow slide as seen in this overhead shot:

I used my shitty blackberry for this shot. I wished I had used my camera. I like the perspective but the resolution blows.

Most of the buildings and rides have been destroyed by fires over the last 20 years. This was one of them.

This was the entrance to the Comet. My favorite all time roller coaster.

I love wooden roller coasters. The new steel ones are faster and scarier but there's something special about the old wooden ones that the new ones can never replace.

This was the ramp that led up to the coaster. To think, one day I ran up this ramp 36 times in one day. My friend and I spent an entire day riding the roller coaster non stop.

It looks more like a tunnel than a ramp. This is because the roof collapsed on top of it.

This was the platform where you got into the train.

This was the first and biggest hill of the coaster. It's only about half of its original height now sadly.

    The motor house.

This was the wheel that turned the chain that pulled the train up to the top of the hill.
Not sure where the chain is now. . I'm sure someone melted it down and sold it.

I took these boards off the coaster as a keepsake. One for me and one for a friend who was also a fan of the park.

Seems silly to take a piece of old wood but at the same time it means something for me to now own a piece of history and one of my favorite things ever.

Enough sobbing over the coaster. It was time to move on to try to find any other remnants of the park.

    A ticket booth?

Not sure what this was. Perhaps a funhouse or a game.

I could look inside but I didn't feel safe going in there. Not sure if the building was secure or if something in there might kill me.
