"What's New?" used to show a combined list of recent threads across all subforums, with standard date and other headers.

Now it goes to "Activity Stream", which is in an entirely different format (for some reason) and doesn't seem to convey the same information.

Is there a way to get the same results as the old "What's New" function?

    Hey, I'm just askin'!

Edit: I think I found it. Hit "What's New?" and THEN hit "New Posts"....

I'll bring this to Dawg's attention -- maybe there is something he can do to modify the link so it's not a 2 step process

in the meantime, if you create a bookmark with this link:

    http://www.dawgsaloon.com/search.php?do=getnew&contenttype=vBForum_Post

it will replicate the old functionality and save you a step

however--you can't just click on that link and then drag the address bar to get a bookmark on it -- that won't work -- you have to actually create the bookmark yourself or modify one to get that specfic address

BTW, it works exactly the same as it used to in the mobile browser

It moves around depending on what forum or view you're in, but I'm seeing that "New Posts" is usually available in the 2nd menu line. So I'll just stop clicking "What's New" altogether, and use "New Posts" instead.

it's really annoying to me -- I don't like the activity stream -- that may be because I'm not used to it -- but I strongly prefer the way the old button worked, which I use all the time

It's fine as a twitter-feed kind of live view (not for me though) but what ruins it is that it's so different from the normal forum thread list views. It stands out as an eyesore that way. Maybe it has some usefulness I'm not seeing.
