So, my girlfriend is really been wanting to get a dog. She has been searching online for weeks. All the pounds and shelters and everything around.

So we go to this rescue shelter today. Met a nice young dog. Seems well behaved. They want to know everything about our lives. How much money we have, the lady wants pics of the house, and she wants to come visit.

That feels kind of invasive to me. I want to just go buy a damn dog now. I don't feel like the guy or gal at the shop is going to come comb through my life.

I would ask to see a written policy of their adoption guidelines... This person may be operating outside the parameters of what they allow.

I really don't want anything to do with them. I understand they want their animals taken care of, but I really kind of value my privacy too. I feel like it is too much.

I don't think I'd like that either. It's like you're trying to adopt a child with these people.

I never heard of such nonsense. That poor dog could have a nice home tonight. Fuck that place. Something stinks there.

She was a snooty bitch, I thought. Kind of uppity acting.

That dog can die of old age, sad and alone at the shelter now.

Maybe they can meet you half way. That poor little soul caught your eye and he needs a loving home. Good luck, my friend.

What does how much money you make and where you live have to do with how well you treat your pet? Those things have nothing to do with how well you would treat a pet.

Go to your local county shelter. At some places it just costs $50 and they are so full you are saving a life because they are kill shelters. There is an application, but it's not as invasive and you don't need a certain income and you can live in an apartment and get one as long as they allow dogs.

I know. We are good people. Does she want letters of recommendation from people too? Maybe a drug test to make sure we were aren't dopers?

What a load of shit. It is making me kind of mad just thinking about it.

I'd write you a letter of reference if that would help.

Never heard of income thing but rescue places usually check background, vet reference and home environment. And you have to sign an agreement to return the dog to them if it doesnt work. Im guessing the income is to make sure you can properly care for the animal, vet bills and all.
