After 15 Years In A Shelter, Sweet Dog Finally Finds A Home:cheer2::cheer::yay:

Chip arrived at an animal shelter when he was only a 7-week-old puppy in need of a loving forever family. And then for the next 15 years, he waited.

The little gray dog spent almost his entire life at the Save-a-Pet Shelter in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, until Thursday, when Chip finally got to go home with a dad of his very own.

One of Chip's fans posted a desperate plea on behalf of the aging dog earlier this week, writing "Chip has NEVER had a home, NEVER had a family to love and cherish him, NEVER had someone to play with him or take him for walks, NEVER had a warm bed to sleep in or a human to cuddle up to.":bigcry:

Now, finally, Chip will have everything a dog could want. On Thursday afternoon the shelter posted a triumphant adoption portrait of Chip and his new dad, Jaco Rademeyer, about to take the little dog to his very first home.

Chip has some medical issues, so he may not have many years left to spend with his new family, but he'll finally have all the comfort and love he craves. While animal shelters do amazing work helping the neediest pets, there's no replacement for the love and connection animals can have with their human family. And now, Chip will get a chance to know what that can be like. :slick:

If you're ready to adopt a pet (of any age!), see available rescues at Adopt-a-Pet.

    oh that is so heartbreaking
on the plus side, it is good to hear that they were able to keep him alive for so many years. Here, they kill them pretty fast.

Me either. He is so adorable. I know I have posted before, but we adopted a 12 year old dog from our vet whose owner had died, as they knew we were familiar with the breed. He lived another 9 years with us and had a good life.

15 years in a shelter ? I hope they are providing this saint of a man with free medical care for that poor old doggie but I doubt it. The man is gonna have some months or a year of heartbreak taking care of that poor thing. God bless him.

Very nice story. I hate it when dogs have to wait in a shelter for a home. Dogs kick ass and deserve a good place to live.

Not to be Mr. Insensitive, but does no one else here really think that his rather disturbing mottled pink eyeball might have had a little something to do with his many years in residence at the pound?

I mean sure, he's adorable and all, but spray paint that thing black and I bet he would have been adopted back during the Clinton administration. ;) :D

They should have made this plea when he was in the shelter 5 years or less, poor little guy. At least hopefully he will have a few good years.

If it is not pink eye or something contagious, what difference would it make? If I adopted him, I'd name him Harry Reid.:bounce:

Looks to me like the doggie was bought purely for its butthole access..

You'd think after 11, 12, 13, 14 years there one of shelter workers would have taken him home.
Also: I don't agree with idea that every human or animal must stay alive at all costs. The dog is missing an eye and spent his life in the shelter... a painless euthanizing wouldn't have been so bad.
I wonder if he was caged all those years or maybe he was like the shelter mascot and roamed around the place. If he was caged then I'd like to push the workers off a cliff for not taking him home.

I hope Chip enjoys the rest of his life. Seems like a sad story, even if he was loved at the pound he still spent his nights alone, and for dogs that sucks. Maybe the guy that adopted him will show Chip the time of his life, steaks and bitches till the end.

i can't believe it took them so long to have that sweet dog adopted....wouldn't it have been nice if the ostrosky-stern's had opened up one of their three abodes to this pup?
it's hard to believe that these two assholes haven't gotten another dog...i think they're too selfish to put the effort into training and caring for a dog. cats pretty much take care of themselves....dogs not as much.

    Jaco Rademeyer

if he's married or with someone then that person (man or woman) should probably give this dude many blowjobs for this good deed

if he's not then some stranger in his home town should

it sounds gay to openly wish another man gets head
regardless this is a good dude
