Until Howard showed up AGT always beat the All-Star game, my guess is that it will beat it again next year when Howard is gone.

I hate to say it but I was thinking the same thing.
Women's soccer beat the All Star Game, and I enjoyed watching it but it's dead to the younger crowd, women and hispanics

I would say that is a good rating for the night. No big decline from last week and they will bring it up when they add the DVR viewings or some bullshit. This is their big 10 year anniversary season and it doesn't seem to be getting a lot of hype on social media or increase in ratings from what should be a much more promoted season. They are going to make a big push to get a Emmy this year either for the show or for Nick Cannon.

He doesn't look like poison though. Buckwald could still spin this as a win, because atleast he proved he is not toxic to a show or sponsors and he will play nice and do the Ellen dance with fat chicks and gays. I bet he gets a big money deal thrown at him from Amazon for their video service, the way they threw money at Woody Allen and Spike Lee. He would fit in well with Amazon, a big name but all hype.

It bums me out when the ratings for AGT go up, even a little bit.

Most pro sports events like the MLB All Star game are terrible from a competitive standpoint. The vast majority of the participants are barely trying, and I don't blame them. Why risk a debilitating or career ending injury on a game that would otherwise have absolutely zero impact on your future earnings?

At least the NFL plays their meaningless pro bowl game at the end of the season. A guy who gets hurt in the MLB game could put his team's playoff chances at risk.

Robin, it's definitely the Stern effect. People heard that I'm leaving and tuned in for their AGT watching parties. It's a shame that the ratings are skewed and don't include those...

Historic breakdown for the episode 8 of AGT:

2008 (Hoff, Morgan, Osbourne) 3.5 rating, 12.42 million viewers
2009 (Hoff, Morgan, Osbourne) 2.9 rating, 11.38 million viewers
2010 (Mandel, Morgan, Osbourne) 3.5 rating, 12.94 million viewers
2011 (Mandel, Morgan, Osbourne) 3.3 rating, 12.46 million viewers
2012 (Mandel, Osbourne, Stern) 3.0 rating, 11.18 million viewers
2013 (Mandel, Heidi, Mel B, Stern) 2.5 rating, 10.06 million viewers
2014 (Mandel, Heidi, Mel B, Stern) 2.4 rating, 10.43 million viewers
2015 (Mandel, Heidi, Mel B, Stern) 2.4 rating, 10.57 million viewers

AGT rose from the ashes this week and pulled in a 2.4 rating versus a 2.2 last week. Still...in the years with Piers as judge, the show always beat the MLB All-Star game. So once again, Stern loses to any type of competition put up against the show. This season it has been the NBA, Women's Soccer, and now the MLB All Star game. The number for AGT is flat and not going up anytime soon this season. Neil Patrick Harris obviously helped the ratings go up last night because without his "star power", the show could have been below a 2.0. Again...has to be a "slap in the face" to Howie Stern. AGT knows that Stern cannot carry a show, so they have to bring in people like Neil Patrick Harris to give the show some sort of life. The sad truth for "America's Judge" is that AGT 2015 is still the lowest rated season in AGT history. I am not sure when the live shows start, but when they do it will interesting to see Stern's attitude to what has happened to him on this show this year. Look at things within the last six months......the email leaks showing how Cowell wants to fire Stern, the fact that AGT is bringing in guest judges to help with show ratings, the lack of advertising the show did involving Stern, and of course Stern being fired....I mean, uh...quitting the show because he is "too busy".....uh..right. When Stern leaves the judges table for the last time after a 4 year run, it has to be viewed as a failure. It is the equivalent of a dad giving his son the keys to the Corvette..and the son crashes it. Piers handed Stern strong ratings....above a 3.0 average....and Stern has driven it into a wall....averaging 2.4 or less. Failure...failure...failure for Mr. Howard Stern.
