You have to add in the viewers from Go On at 10:00pm. Those people only watched that show because they were watching Howard on AGT before that. So, let's round it up and call it 15 million viewers last night for Howard. Another record! More cartwheels by NBC execs.

bobart how do these ratings compare to last year? I'm guessing less viewers than last year.

Here's the thing - since you're a civilian you don't realize that it ISN'T what it is. Jon Hein, isnt it true that ratings don't mean anything since you know everything about TV?

Look, I don't like the show (or Stern's involvement) either, but this crowing about all the ratings decreases are kind of inane.

BTW, the ratings dropped in 2008 after the Olympic break as well.

I know you all want to blame Stern for the drop in ratings, but a completely objective view would be:

    1) The earlier premiere (during Spring sweeps) was a mistake.
    2) Overall network viewership has dropped almost every year.
    3) Some people tuned out because of Stern.
    4) The show is an aging franchise and like AI and DWTS, it's gradually losing viewers as most older series due over time.
    5) When all is said and done, AGT will still be the #1 rated regular series of the summer.

Not sure if NBC is doing cartwheels about the ratings, but I really don't think they're that far off from what they expected.

Overall ratings summarySince the show's beginning, the show's ratings have been very high, ranging from 9 million viewers to as many as 16 million viewers, generally averaging around 12 million viewers. The show has also ranked high in the 18-49 demographic, usually rating anywhere from as low as 2.0 to as high as 4.6 throughout its run. Average ratings have been around 3.0-3.9 for most seasons. Audition shows and performance shows rate higher on average than results shows.
Although the show's ratings have been high, NBC has chosen not to place the show as a competitor in the fall or spring seasons for various reasons. A brief run by the show in the fall in 2008, which was due to NBC's coverage of the 2008 Summer Olympics, proved to be underwhelming, with the series averaging only around 10 million viewers, and the finale down significantly from the previous year. During the first weeks of the fall season in 2009, however, a results show of America's Got Talent performed well against the season premiere of So You Think You Can Dance and the highly promoted world premiere of Glee, posting 9.7 million viewers, compared to only 6.5 million viewers for So You Think You Can Dance and 7.1 million viewers for Glee. However, rival SYTYCD delivered poorly in the fall, which was likely a factor in NBC's decision to keep Talent in the summer.
The highest rated season in overall viewers to date is season four. The most-watched episode has been the finale of season five, with 16.41 million viewers. The series premiere, and an episode featuring the first part of Las Vegas Week in season six, have each tied for highest rating among adults 18-49, both having a 4.6 rating.
    The show is rated TV-PG.

Only 1.5 million more viewers than a repeat of NCIS. How many more weeks is this show on for? I would like to see the rating if they go against new episodes of other shows and not just repeats.

I would think they'll try and finish up before most Fall premieres start. Not sure if they will be able to given the two week Olympic hiatus.

whats hilarious to me is that Howard's MILLIONS of listeners didnt watch it at all , in fact #AGT dropped a large portion of their overall viewership....and Howard turned a edgy comedy show into the AARP hour with #AGT updates every 15 minutes - without the #AGT filler wtf would he be sitting there talking to Fred and Benjy about

it's a really good thing he doesnt care or think about what people say about him
