And Howard bragged about how he put it in his contract, that he doesn't have to do any publicity for AGT anymore. The suits at NBC must be second guessing themselves.
They had to move the show to NYC for Howard. They pay him over 10,000,000.00 a season. The bastard won't even do a talk show to try to boost the ratings. Howards all in!

    Historic breakdown:

2008 (Hoff, Morgan, Osbourne) 3.1 rating, 12.05 million viewers (semi-finals live show, performance show)
2009 (Hoff, Morgan, Osbourne) 3.2 rating, 12.81 million viewers (semi-finals show, performance show)
2010 (Morgan, Osbourne, Mandel) 3.1 rating, 10.80 million viewers (semi-finals show, performance show)
2011 (Morgan, Osbourne, Mandel) 3.3 rating, 11.99 million viewers (semi-finals show, performance show)
2012 (Osbourne, Mandel, Stern) 2.5 rating, 9.89 million viewers (semi-finals show, performance show)
2013 (Mandel, Stern, Klum, Mel) 2.2 rating, 8.70 million viewers (semi-finals show, performance show)
2014 (Mandel, Stern, Klum, Mel) 2.1 rating, 9.40 million viewers (semi-finals show, performance show)

Same old story...AGT is still having its lowest rated season in its history. This was stated as the "semi-finals" show, but there was not an increase in ratings over last week. Nobody new is tuning in to check it out, so Stern and company will have to be happy with the 2 share they have been averaging all season. Last night, I sat and watched the last 20 minutes of AGT. I was home from the gym early and caught the end. The show is lame...and Stern is just not engaging. He talks with his hands, he looks totally fake with his "hair system", botox, and fake chin....but most importantly, his commentary is nothing worth seeing. He is no Simon Cowell...that is for sure.

The numbers speak for themselves....lowest rated semi-final show in history. Piers and the Hoff have to be somewhere laughing at irrelevancy of Howie Stern.

The fake judge drama has intensified in an effort to create a buzz.
    Not working!
Howard needs to cut a safety wire and kill someone to create a buzz....right Robin

They even cut out some travel to bring him back for year #3. I don't get it, but they seem to love him

Why wasn't America's Judge at the GayGT pre show BBQ last night? The other judges hate him with a passion. God I would love to be a fly on the wall at their hotel after the show.

Those ratings are not anything to write home about.

Running on a shit night before the regular TV season starts back up is no great shakes.

They must love him. I don't get it either, but I am not a TV executive..so who knows. Seems it would be cheaper to shoot this show in the NBC lot in California, bring in 3 judges for much less money, and pull the same ratings probably. The show is what it is...a summer replacement show, and really the only "live" show against reruns. NBC must be happy with it because they replay the thing many times thru the week, so they must be happy with the product they are getting. Somebody must be questioning Stern's salary at this point, and if he is worth the price...but they must think he is if they keep bringing him back.

Yep, also I know everyone just isolates the 18-49 ratings, but the show does make money from the advertising for older viewers as well. The fact that they get other views on different nights says they are making money with it!
I can't see either Stern or AGT doing a year #4.
Also The Voice is taped at Universal Studios so you are 100% correct that it can be done

A documented colossal Howard Allan Stern failure....is what it is.
If any aspect of the ratings were amazing Stern would be spiking the ball.
Not only did the Weave man fail to deliver his alleged key demo....he chased away existing key demo.

Didn't the guy who pushed to hire him come in as a guess and claim he was a long time diehard Stern fan?

I doubt he still listens to the show and it isn't out of the realm to believe that Stern would at least duplicate Simon Cowell's performance and help ratings. Howard also likely signed a 1 year guaranteed contract with mutiple option years tacked on.

Considering that his co-stars include a 90's era supermodel/ reality tv host, a 90's era girl group member, and a 80's era comediene/reality show hows, it's not like Howard is in some rarified company

Well NBC needs to get away from the 18-49 crowd, and start trying to sell advertising time to companies like Depends, Geritol, Poligrip, Viagra...and just run with that they have!

I agree though...I cannot see them doing another year in NYC, and bringing Stern in for #4. It has to cost them a good amount to rent out that theater and produce it in NYC, when they have plenty of space at Universal to do it. Also, I would be surprised if Stern does another season. He gave it 3 years, he didn't become the sensation he hoped to be, so I would hope he realizes what he was good at and focus in on that. It wouldn't surprise me though if he took another year.

I see clips this year & he doesn't seem to be having fun. Even on THSS he doesn't talk about any fun they have. He has one year left at SXM (2015) & I think he will do that year AGT free & set up the channels for the future with him doing an Oprah/Foxx sched.

Nice back & forth with you Mr. Shaw -

The guy you are thinking is Jason Raft. He really isn't the guy that hires, that is Cowell & NBC. Raft is the grunt producer. He is the day to day guy that oversees production. Cowell is the muckity-muck EP
