You're expected to do that when you've got a 240 million dollar contract

Just wait for all the media coverage when Adam Dunn hits his 500th next year. It'll be crazy.

It would be a big deal if he was still in St-Louis. Nobody gives a damn about the Angels. Plus it happened in D.C.

    Case closed

Dunn is like this generation's Dave Kingman. Dude is huge too. 6'6, up around 300lbs.

I just peeked at their stats. Dunn is way more consistent, w/ his HRs. And Kingman hit 35 in 1986 for Oakland, the year he retired. If he was around for the live ball year of 87, he mighta given McGwire a run at the HR lead of 49.

2x Dunn's strikeout total was higher than his batting average digits.

That is a no contest, Dunn gets like 100 walks a year, Kingman 50-60.

EDIT: Quick glance I thought you said OBP.

    Kingman: .302 OBP/ .780 OPS
    Dunn: .366 OBP/ .861 OPS

Dunn: 4th all time in SO
    Kingman: 14th

You look on the Kingman's Baseball Reference page, and Dunn tops the list of similar guys. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/k/kingmda01.shtml

    Here is the big difference:

    Career earnings: Dunn $112,695,000
    Kingman $4,207,500 (incomplete no data 71-75 & 85-85) Guesstimate: $5.5mill

Dunn is a true 3 outcome player: SO, HR, Walk

Kingman was a 2 outcome player: SO, HR
    ......

Dunn was my favorite player for several years while he was with the Reds. A player who has been misunderstood and largely underappreciated for much of his career. Luckily, advanced metrics are finally gaining more widespread acceptance in baseball as the old fucksticks who only cared about/understood ERA, AVG, and RBI are finally dying off.

So many roided players made it that it is not nearly as meaningful as it once was. Hell, there was like 14 years between Mike Schmidt and the next one. Now they are routine.
