Been watching reruns of it on Antenna TV, and it's still awesome. I'm surprised all the PC pussies haven't demanded it be taken off TV though, on today's episode alone Archie said "chink" 3 times.

That show could never be made today. Too bad "Meathead" turned out to be such a meathead.

Man, you are so right! I caught the end of an episode the other night, and it was REALLY good (I think it was the ep where Gloria and Meathead moved out).

I've been going nuts taping and watching all of these old shows OTA. I still haven't started watching the McHale's Navy and I Dream of Jeannie reruns I've got stored up! I've been watching a bunch of old British shows, The Saint, The Avengers, and MeTV just started showing the classic Star Trek episodes daily!

Some other good shows came from that show. "Maude" and "The Jeffersons"

Luckily, we can still watch those shows on channels like METV and Antenna. When I was a kid, I could only see them on Nick at Night, now we have a few more channels.

Nick at Night used to be so awesome. I miss those old commercial bumpers.

I watched a few episodes recently and I noticed as soon as Archie leaves the scene...there's no show left.

Great show though. Groundbreaking for its time.

It surprises me how relevant the topics still are today. I used to side with Meathead, now I'm more Archie :giggle:

Right along there with the progressive pc movement was Sandford and Son. Still makes me laugh.

God forbid sitcoms these days have racial humor. There was nothing funnier than shit like the white unhip police officer on Sanford and Son trying to be cool by putting his hand out and saying, "hey my brother, give me four" and watching his black partner roll his eyes.

Redd WAS the show. I try to avoid the episodes from around either '73 or '74 when he was out for a while (salary dispute?) and Grady filled in for him. Nothing against Grady, when he and Fred were together he was more tolerable...
