I add stuff to my cart until I hit 49. Often during that period I find it cheaper and cancel. Amazon will learn soon about this pattern. Fuck em. eBay is usually cheaper and I can usually avoid sales tax. At one point Amazon was cheap, but now it's MSRP.

Sometimes above MSRP. I recently was looking at buying a gluten free flour mix and it was around normal price if I use Amazon Pantry, but I didn't have other stuff I wanted to fill the Pantry box, so I found it with Prime shipping. Twice as much. Forget that, I'll go to a local grocery store and pay normal pricing.

They want everyone to join Prime so they can compete with Netflix.

Just order thru Barnes & Noble; their free shipping cap is still $25. Or Jet, $35.

I had prime but cancelled as I had a few things hat weren't delivered in two days. I did the math (probably not right) and I looked at last few years of orders and realized in the rare cases I needed faster shipping, it would make sense just to pay for those cases, and the rest of the time be patient and lump together orders.

I hate shopping clubs like prime and Costco...I don't like having to join something or pay extra for the privilege of buying.

If your only use for Prime is the shipping, then it may not worth be it, unless you're a frequent shopper. But Prime provides a lot of content beyond just shipping - movies, music, TV shows, some HBO, etc. It's not for everyone, but I've been a member for a couple of years and like what I get out of the deal.

Not for books. Buy $25 worth of books and shipping is still free.
