This hits close to home, my dad was born in '35 and lived there in Albuquerque, New Mexico before they relocated to L.A.

When I was a kid we would ride around with our BB guns strapped to our backs. Now you would be a terrorist,

Always liked this one from 1943, it's the control console for the Oak Ridge,TN plant which produced plutonium used in the first A-bombs.

    Seems farcical in its simplicity.

My father in law is building a 37 chev hotrod right now and I've done most of the welding on it. The craftsmanship and steelwork is remarkable.

The car is 77 years old and the only thing rotten were the bumpers. The fenders were all cracked from rattling down the old roads but barely any rust.

No cars today will ever last like that. I can barely keep my early 2000s vehicles on the road.

I graduated high school in 91 and we would leave our hunting rifles in our cars so we could get to the woods for the last stand of the day. I couldn't imagine the trouble that would cause today.

When my father was a kid in rural WV he spent the night with some cousins. He noticed that there was only one bed. The younger kids were put to bed in it, and when it was time for my dad to go to bed, one of the little kids, sound asleep, was lifted out of the bed and put on some blankets on the floor. My father went to bed, and of course woke up in the morning on the floor. His aunt and uncle were sleeping in the bed. When I saw this picture, I wondered if that was going on here.

Thanks so much for posting these lovely photos.

All fiberglass, cheap plastic and shifty computer parts today. They make sure these cars don't last.
