NBC said it examined photos of McAuthur’s body, which includes a distinctive neck tattoo, and spoke with several family members to confirm his death. The State Department declined immediate comment. McCain called himself “Duale ThaslaveofAllah” on Facebook and declared on Twitter: “It’s Islam over everything.” He also had been an aspiring rap star.
