mildly funny joke and the douches come out firing Amy Schumer catches flak over offensive tweet BY Keri Blakinger NEW YORK DAILY NEWS Wednesday, March 2, 2016, 3:49 PM Jordan Strauss/Jordan Strauss/Invision/AP Amy Schumer is under fire again for offensive jokes. Amy Schumer is in hot water again over racially-charged humor. On Wednesday, the comedienne tweeted a picture of herself standing between a clarinet and saxophone player and captioned the snap, “ A Jew with horns.” Gossip Cop responded with a scathing criticism labelling Schumer’s joke as “offensive and wrong.” The insulting depiction of Jews with horns dates back to a medieval times, when a possible translation error might have accounted for the belief that Jews actually had horns. “Anti-Semites have used that anatomically inaccurate error to fuel their bigotry and portray Jews as horned individuals, like the devil or Satan,” the Gossip Cop story notes. “The wholly untrue imagery was later co-opted by the Nazis, who depicted Jews in their propaganda as satanic people. “Any of this funny yet?” The site predicted that “undoubtedly, Schumer will justify her mildly amusing ‘joke’ by noting that she herself was raised Jewish and can poke fun at herself, as she often does with her comedy.” A Jew with horns pic.twitter.com/5v3JUHZenN — Amy Schumer (@amyschumer) March 2, 2016 Some Twitter users were also unhappy with her post. One wrote, "This is a disgusting attempt at humor. It's like making a slavery joke. Tasteless and unfunny." This is certainly not the first time the comic has faced criticism over her humor. Last year, Twitter users called her out for being racially insensitive when she made a joke about Latina women. She referred to the movie “Gone Girl” as "the story of one crazy white woman who did what all Latinas do when you cheat on them." In a long Twitter rant response, Schumer called herself a “dirty half-Jew” and wrote, "I am a comic. I am so glad more people are laughing at me and with me all of a sudden. “I will joke about things you like, and I will joke about things you aren't comfortable with. And that's OK. Stick with me and trust I am joking."
