    "Oral" :giggle:

So I just finished reading "But Enough About Me", the latest bio of 'ol Burt to get his lack of cash flow righted and once I got to the chapter entitled Jack Horner I was enthralled. I always read that Burt was quite the contrarian on the set and was miserable/made everybody miserable and he doesn't really deny it. Anyways, went hunting for some backstory behind the scenes stuff and came across this. If you click the link and are all tl;dr, it might be a mistake cause its a pretty cool read (if you are into that kind of stuff).

    Stern related cause cock.

I am dead serious. Could watch it 100 more times. How many films can you say that about?

If there are any Boogie Night experts in here I have one question.....

Was Dirk Diggler's Mother molesting him?

Is that why she was so pissed when he got home last night?

Is that why the husband looked so defeated while the 3 of them were fighting about it?

It was the only thing I could think of. The Mom knew Dirk had a package, and she wanted it - probably for years and years.

    Anyone?

I would love to see the 3.5 hr plus original before all the cutting started to get it from NC17 to R and down to a reasonable run time. There was a lot more with the mom/Dirk angle. Plus I'd like to see the death scene involving Little Bill's wife, although it is sequenced brilliantly.

To have been so miserable, Burt was perfectly cast. I don't know if Beatty or Keitel could have pulled that role any better.

The Colonel getting blurred out cause he was laughing so hard in the background when Floyd Gondolli is talking to Jack about the need to switch to VHS is multiple rewind worthy.

I agree with @ChimneySweep, it really is one of the greats.

The deleted part about the law coming in and getting into some crazy firefight with Alfred Molina and the firecracker throwing oriental must've be something to see. That whole scene (the edited normal scene) is so damn intense. That and the creepy music playing when Dirk is just about to get his ass beat by the gay bashers.

Burt, for whatever reason, disliked Paul Thomas Anderson immensely. Felt like the guy (who was only in his mid 20's at the time) hadn't paid his dues. Burt also said he hated when his character said "Fuck her in the ass" in one scene.

It was the Jack Horner role that got him his only Academy Award nomination, though. The whole cast is marvelous. Julianne Moore should have won the Best Supporting Actress award for that movie, and Mark Wahlberg should have been nominated, period.

    Great read, RIP Grantland.

This movie is such a classic, even the scenes they left on the cutting room floor are gold.

And one with accused murderer/domestic batterer Michael Jace beating his movie wife, followed by Dirk totaling his Corvette (setting up the Alfred Molina scene).

That guy is a great director. My favorite of this recent generation.

Inherent Vice wasn't that great though. I hope he's not burned out.

It's funny, Joaquin Phoenix worked with two great directors recently (Anderson and Woody Allen), but both movies were kinda mediocre.

Well, although, he was in the The Master also, which was awesome, and he was great in that one. I like him as an actor usually.

I also like how Ron Jeremy was their porn-to-Hollywood liaison and he never made it into the film.
