I've been watching Vikings for the first time over the last couple of weeks, right now I just watched the first show of season 4 that was a TV rip. The first 3 seasons were BR rips. Right in the middle of a scene, some stupid fucking AD for Home Depot pops on screen. It's bad enough ALL the networks run their promotions during EVERY show, and have been doing it for the last few years. Now they run commercials between the commercials?

TV can die off as far as I'm concerned now, just stream everything now!

That's why they run this shit during the show, you can't avoid it anymore, if you fast forward you miss the action of the show you're watching.

I think network tv is gonna have a hard time in the next 5 - 10 years. I don't get the impression that kids growing up now even watch "regular tv" anymore. I have a nephew who is 12 years old and all he and his friends watch are youtube and netflex and other immediate stream options...they don't have patience to be in a spot at a certain time and spend half of that time watching commercials. And I rarely watch tv anymore for that reason. You come across a movie or show on one of the cable channels and it seems like 5 minute commercial blocks every 5 minutes. It's a bullshit outdated way of doing things.

First went the newspapers. Then vinyl. Then CD's (hello vinyl!). Then radio. Traditional broadcast/cable networks are soon to join them on the list.

Tv stations are allowed to run 7 1/2 minutes of commercials per half hour and no more. That has been how it is for as long as I can remember and I'm old.

I'm happy to say I have not had nor watched regular TV in my home since 2008.
The last time I watched a network TV show on a regular time slot was when Big Bang Theory first started. I dont even know when that was. I only have internet in my home. Then I have Netflix, Hulu ( i pay extra for no commercials) and Amazon prime.
I just don't have the patience for the commercials and editing. Plus if there's a TV show that people recommend, I can get it other ways...but that hasn't happened yet. I'm very particular with TV.

I've noticed that a one he episode of Viking is about 32 minutes of actual show and 28 of commercials. Shame because it's a good show

What I really hate is how often commercial breaks show up for some movies on stations like TNT. Seems like a 2 hour movie suddenly takes up 3 and a half hours worth of time due to constant ad breaks.

We were paying $8 a month for Hulu and watching it through our Tivo box. The app was terrible and froze up all the time. When it did work there were commercials every few minutes. I cancelled the service because it was not worth it. Now they have a new app for Tivo that I guess fixed all the problems but damn if I'm going to pay more per year than Amazon Prime just to watch TV with no 2 day shipping or free music. Hulu can suck it.
