Andrew Garfield has loved Spider-Man since he was a little kid. He can speak eloquently and at length about how open the Spider-verse is for interpretation. Recently, he says, he had a philosophical discussion with producer Matt Tolmach about Mary Jane or “MJ” to fans. “I was kind of joking, but kind of not joking about MJ,” he tells EW. “And I was like, ‘What if MJ is a dude?’ Why can’t we discover that Peter is exploring his sexuality? It’s hardly even groundbreaking!…So why can’t he be gay? Why can’t he be into boys?”

Garfield even has an actor in mind: “I’ve been obsessed with Michael B. Jordan since The Wire. He’s so charismatic and talented. It’d be even better—we’d have interracial bisexuality!” The star has clearly suggested a sexually flexible Spidey to his director, Marc Webb, as well. When EW later mentions the idea to Webb, the director says, “Michael B. Jordan, I know.” Oh, so he’s heard this too? “Uh, are you kidding?”

well, since this peter parker looks and acts like a fag, he may as well be one. he obviously has major gay urges that he wants to act out. there are many straight actors who have convincingly played a gay character, including tongue kissing other dudes. but NO straight actor suggests a story change from a hot female lover to a male one.

 

enough with the fucking agendas!! gays are at most 5% of the population, what is the point of having spidey be gay other than to make a political statement. analogous to blaeks being 12% of the population and having almost half the newscasters and commercials be blaek folks.

"Why can't he be gay?" Maybe because you can't make a $250 million dollar movie, then alienate half (or more) of your potential audience.

What a sheltered little cunt this kid is! I hated the direction of the last Spidey movie - they basically turned Pete into a hipster who happens to be good at science. Now he wants to make him gay? Fuck that! Raimi did some wrong things with the character too, but at least he and Toby nailed the shy, nerdy, insecure nature of Pete...in the first 2 at least.

 

He's going to go from Amazing to FABULOUS.
