Connolly, Staff Writer A Polk County teacher is behind bars today after she was accused of having sex with a 17-year-old boy in her pickup, Lakeland police say. Jennifer Christine Fichter, 29, of Davenport is an English teacher at Central Florida Aerospace Academy, 4141 Medulla Road, Lakeland. The alleged victim is one of her students, an arrest report said. "The victim's mother discovered this relationship after reviewing text messages from her son and she asked that Fichter respond to her residence to talk," a Lakeland police statement said. "According to the victim's mother, admitted to the sexual encounters and professed her love for him." That conversation was made in a phone call Monday that was recorded by police, a report said. Fichter told the alleged victim's mother she had sex 20 to 30 times with the boy, according to a report. The teacher also said she had an abortion after getting pregnant with the boy's child, the report said. Fichter told the alleged victim's mother she wanted a relationship with her son and doesn't regret anything, added the report. She was arrested at her apartment in Davenport about 90 minutes later. The boy, for his part, told police he had sex with Fichter three times in the parking lot of an apartment complex at the Preserve at Lakeland Hills in Lakeland and three times at another location off of New Tampa Highway, also known as U.S. Highway 92. Four other alleged incidents happened outside of Lakeland's city limits, the report added. These alleged incidents are under investigation by authorities in Polk and Hillsborough counties, a police statement added. They began having sex in November, a report alleges. Fichter has been charged with sex counts of unlawful sexual activity with a minor.
