Settle a situation for me, if you will.

Say a dealer fucks-up during a stud game and mistakenly flips the last card of one of the players up (7 card stud games deal last card down)...I'm pretty sure the player gets a choice on whether to keep the card, but if they refuse the card, is the remainder of the deck (including the upturned card) then reshuffled, and then the final down cards dealt out to the players?

This seems incorrect to me, but another player at a private game tonight swears that's how the Hard Rock casino would handle the situation. I can understand the player having the right to refuse the card in favor of a properly-dealt down card, but I would think they would get the next card in the deck (with the refused card discarded), without a reshuffle. Am I wrong here?

Why would you shuffle the whole deck because of one card? Makes no sense.

That's my thought, although to be clear it would just be the remaining cards after the dealer fuck-up that would get reshuffled, not all the cards already properly dealt out.

I've been playing poker in private games a long time, and this seems exactly as you say...nonsensical, but this guy was adamant on this point. He does play at the casino however, but I don't like the pace of the poker at casino games.

I meant the stock pile. But the dealer should be good enough not to drop a card. Also, I believe you can request that the pile be shuffled but I don't think they have to grant it. Maybe I'm wrong.

Thanks AOS, for discussing this in a serious manner. I told bro and Phil not to be stupid, those morons.

Normally, the players would all jump up at once, turning the table over, and pull their 6 shooters on the dealer.

The player never gets a choice to keep an exposed card or not. If there are only two players left, the dealer would simply flip over the other player's last card. If more than two, the guy with the exposed card just has to play it out and the rest of the players get to keep their cards face down. Then he can punch the dealer in the mouth when the game is over. I've never heard of reshuffling the deck.

Never happened to me at a casino, but I think the rules are that the exposed card is removed, another card gets burned, and the deck gets reshuffled.
