I need some help...
what are you trying to do?
I'm fluent in excel but wouldn't call myself a guru.
plus anything you don't know how to do you just look up on google and can figure it out.
I need something like this...
If an email address in column B, matches an email in (another tab in same worksheet, column B), replace that cell with (2nd tab of worksheet, column C, that was the match to the column B, same row).
TIP: * = x
This is exactly why I didn't respond. I figured it must be some big ass problem if he didn't google it.
Cmon Booger, tell us what it is.
maybe an example would help...
All in same worksheet.
Worksheet 1 = email addresses
Worksheet 2 = email addresses with first and last name
I need the last names on Worksheet 2 placed in Worksheet 1
The emails in Worksheet 1 do not correspond in any order to Worksheet 2.
Thus, if email in worksheet one of email@example.com matches email in worksheet two of firstname.lastname@example.org, I want dicks last name (which is only in worksheet 2), to be filled into that cell.
Crystal clear right?
Seems like something you would do in Access. But you can't use the Find and replace tool?
its not really a find and replace issue. If one cell matches another cell, I want a THIRD cell placed in the blank cell
Maybe somebody else understood it better. Is this it?
Tab a b1=, email@example.com
Tab b b1=, firstname.lastname@example.org
replace contents of Tab b b1 with contents of tab b c1, email@example.com
I need to go lay down - my brain hurts. I will return - hopefully with an answer ITT
that's beyond my level...but I wouldn't use excel for an email database I would use Access.
I'd be surprised if that can be done in Excel. I'll hang up and listen.
Tab a b1 = firstname.lastname@example.org
Tab b b1 = email@example.com (same tab includes first name of "gwart" in c1 and "ney" in d1)
replace contents of tab a, a1 with contents of tab b d1, "ney"
