Just curious, I first learned about Howard on his channel 9 show in the early 90's while in Tempe.
he just wants to show off his new av
more like this
I grew up in Tempe.
But I live in the distant wilds of Gilbert now.
When I was there, Chandler was waste land, now apparently it's a real town. Tucson and Phoenix will soon be one...
Tubing on the Salt River used to be a long drive through desolation. Now it is almost all suburbanized.
Tucson and Phoenix will become another San Angeles (Demolition Man).
I was there when you had to drive through desert to get to Rawhide or that restaurant where they cut your tie off...what was that called? now it's all built up.
The joint where you can take a slide to get inside?
That place is pretty crazy. I prefer Monti's though. On Mill. It's still there, but always packed on the nights I want to go.
They have a slide? I just remember that old guy walking around with a shotgun, but yes, Rustler's Roost.
Yeah. You can either use it to get in or out. Can't recall which. More of a novelty for the kids. And, I don't recall an old guy, but they have a huge fucking bull outside. It's penned, but it is in the middle of Ahwatukee, which is totally built up and full of strip malls and Ikea - so it looks really out of place.
In Gilbert, this place is just totally full of tract houses and strip malls, but I can ride my bike three miles down back trails and there are still farms around here. Just buried in suburbia.
Arizona is really unusual. It is still trying to hold on to some wild west, but is getting overpopulated. I have lived all over Southern California and that is just straight forward suburbs. Lived in the Pacific Northwest and that is just old and Victorian. Arizona has no cultural identity or idea what it wants to do with itself as people fill the place up.
My Aunt lives in Chandler, I can't tell one house from the other. If I got lost, I'm dead.
well how about that, i'm in Gilbert too. We should meet up at some point so we could not listen together.
By the way, 'swingonthis' is also an asu alum, he has a sun devil logo as his av so I don't think i'm giving away any secrets.
I never thought of an ASU av, I'm gonna change my AV
