I got hooked on F1 last year after I took a driving course and started to covet sports cars. I almost got an 80's 911 and when that fell through I almost did a new Corvette.

I love the cutting edge technology of the F1 cars and the challenging racing circuits. Left and right had corners, hills, descents. I get bored watching cars go around ovals.

DVR is on it now and I'll check back after, before I see any spoilers. Yeah, IK Hamilton probably won....

I've been a fan since about '95 when I was finally able to see every race on satelite. I went to the US races at Indy until they fucked me and only raced a handful of cars (I forget the year). Seeing a race in person really shws you how incredible these cars are. Even with the Hamilton doninatation this year it is still an enjoyable season IMO.

I still check the news periodically to see if there is any progress with Michael after he bumped his head too hard.

Good race today. Not super exciting with another Hamilton domination win. At least I think he won. Something about 1/4 psi.....

I like F1 quite a bit. The cars are spectacular, the drivers are very good and the races really are international spectacles every single week they compete, coming from some of the most storied racing venues in motorsports history. My only complaint is in regards to the competitiveness of the races themselves. Quite often the outcome is determined in the merge to the first turn of lap one. Passing up in the podium positions is pretty rare and there are many times when the leader can come in for a pit stop and still get back out on the track without having given up even one position. From that standpoint I find more excitement in seeing 25 technically inferior Nascar Sprint Cup cars all within a second of the lead, traveling 200 mph at a track like Daytona or Talledega.

I agree. I just wish NASCAR wasn't on ovals. Mercedes dominating F1 will pass some day.

Love Formula 1. Real men don't need fenders to race!
The technology really does it for me. Yes the outcome is usually predetermined but the racing in the back of the field is sometimes incredible to watch. Try finding a British television feed. There is an entirely different approach to the race than you get with Matchett, Hobbs and Diffey.

A friend of mine's BF just took a job offer from one of the Formula One teams. He's some sort of statistical genius and his position will involve utilizing all of this data from these models that he personally designed. When it comes down to milliseconds for the difference between first place and also rans, these teams are looking for any possible competitive edge. She told me that he pretty much got the money he wanted and will spend 6 months on the road (some pretty sweet locales) and the other six months working from wherever he wishes to live.

Big fan, big fan. Glad to see Ferrari is at least somewhat close to challenging Mercedes again.

Been following since 1998 regularly, I saw some of the hey days of the early 90s. This is the pinacle of motor racing even though they have watered it down with spec motors and tires. Beats the moving billboard racing series known as NASCAR or the driver killer Indy Car.

Huge fan here! I have gone to 2 races live...I watch every practice, Qualifying, and race.. I have to say I hate the new specks. Half the sport is missing, the NOISE is a joke now.. Way to many grid spot penalty's and the 100kg fuel limit sucks the racing out of the sport....Big changes are coming in 2017 because TV and attendance has been dropping like a rock since they changed in 2014.....I hope they fix the sport.....

The machines are amazing, but there isn't enough actual racing.

Questions for race fans. It looks interesting but daunting to get into,
    1) do you follow just F1 or nascar or multiple ones?
    2) do you follow a team, driver, manufacturer? Where is your allegiance?
3). What are you watching during a race besides position? Pit times?
I love Forza 5, I'm just intimidated by the real deal.

I also love Indycar..That is where I fell in love with racing, it was called CART then.. I raced karts for years as a kid..{was pretty good but couldn't keep up with the increasing costs to stay competitive]. I follow NASCAR from a distance, races are to long to watch.
I will always root for Ferrari... ALWAYS!

    1. Indycar, F1, a little Sportscars and a little NASCAR
    2. Drivers but in F1 Ferrari
    3. Drivers battling the handling on cars and setting up passes many corners in advance.

Love racing, bonded with my dad watching as a kid it holds a special place.
