I got started last year... One batch was fucked-up with the carbonation, but the rest have been good.

Made one I'm finishing off the past few days that definitely has some knock-down power... Forgot to check the gravity, but it has to be 6-7%... I'm 6'2" and 210, know how to drink and three give me a healthy buzz.

Thinking of getting in to kegging but I am frightened of all-grain... Seems tricky.

Stick with the ale extract for a few more rounds. Once you get the suds the way you want them, then expand to all grain.

Hold off on kegging until you come across one of those old soda cylinders. Those things are bad ass.

    Then try lagers.

    Www.northernbrewer.com is awesome

Northern is where I get all my stuff. Was gonna bottle my latest batch today and found my caps had rusted because I put some back in the bag that I had sanitized. Oops.

I have a double IPA kit with FUCKING TWELVE bags of hops ready for the next one. I'm excited.

try different colors and bitterness levels. The extract brewing will teach you the basics, like what each ingredient adds with respect to flavor, color, body.

This will come in handy later on when you want to build your own blend. You'll have a keen pallette, especially once you reach out to exotic ingredients like orange peel, oak spirals, and wheat/bacterial beers

i have a vacuum still. Can reach 200 proof easily. I'm scared of methanol poisoning, so I don't drink it unless I bring some to work, shoot it in an nmr, gc-ms and lc-ms to analyze it

I'll probably get the first half dozen batches tested and depend in the flame test after.

Don't think the flame test differentiates between methanol and ethanol, does it?

I've been home brewing since 1989. Mostly beer, but some wine and mead. I also grow my own hops.

Kegging is the way to go, once you do, you'll never bottle again. StarSan is the best way to sanitize everything, from wort chillers to fermenters to kegs and keg lines.

I ran a 5 gallon copper still with a water-jacketed condensing arm. I bought it online for like $300 or so. Maybe at www.coppermoonshinestills.com ?
Anyhow, I use turbo yeast, some barley but mostly corn that I'd buy already cracked at the feed store for $5.99 for a 50# bag.
I'd put the raw distillate in charred white oak barrels and after just a few months, it would taste as fine as any store bought bourbon.
