Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Preorders Sell Out In Minutes On Amazon, Best Buy And Newegg

nowintstock.net, a website that monitors important online retailers, demonstrates that the stocks of the GPU are depleted at all the mentioned vendors. The Nvidia Store and B&H Photo also show "out of stock" next to the GeForce GTX 1080.

According to Kotaku's report, Now In Stock shows that both the EVGA and ZOTAC models that could be preordered checked out within minutes. To be more exact, Amazon sold all its EVGA GTX 1080 in 6 minutes, with ZOTAC lasting a full 12 minutes before going out of stock.

The popularity of the device is not a shock, as the GeForce GTX 1080 was highly commended from the get-go. The standard GeForce GTX 1080 Founders Edition will come at a price point of $699, while a number of custom variants will be available for as low as $599.

The GPU will be available from third parties such as Asus, Msi, Pny and a few others.

One big selling point of GTX 1080 is that it is the first graphics processing unit built on 16nm FinFET platform. This means that the GPU makes use of smaller, faster transistors that wield faster speed and better performance.

What is more, GTX 1080 bases its performance on the 8 GB of Micron's GDDR5X memory. This means that the device benefits from speeds of up to 10 Gbps, making it almost twice as fast as a GPU laden with standard GDDR5 memory.

It should be mentioned that the power-efficient GTX 1080 has a clock running at 1,700 MHz, which gulps 180 watts of power. With the GPU Boost 3 technology, gamers can go wild overclocking their video cards.

Reports from April indicated that the design of the GTX 1080 will feature a silver and black case that comes with a fan and a heatsink hidden beneath a plastic cover.

Microcenter is going to have some Friday morning. First time ever I've going to wait in line for something like this.

They have a limit of 2. I'm really considering getting two to see if I can resell it for profit.

All this tech and wasted energy so old dorks can have a few extra pixels and a little higher frame-rate while they can barely see through their cataracts.

As soon as I have a game where my 970 is slow, I'll purchase this.

Im into flight sim, that shit can chew up a graphics cards ability like no video game can. We need every bit of muscle we can get just to sustain 30 frames per second. These new cards look like they will be ideal for a flight sim rig. :dontknow:

I went there this weekend and asked a couple of the salesmen what they were expecting for a crowd. They said there are people there waiting for the store to open every day regardless. Place opens at 10, I plan on getting there by 6.

The Saitek x56 HOTAS comes out this week too.

Then you should have come in telling everyone how AMD is better and asking if Nvidia is going to remember to put in all the RAM this time.

I need yaw in the stick. I use is for Elite: Dangerous and don't want to mess with foot pedals too.

I have enjoyed the x52s yaw in the stick and not messing with pedals but I have trouble taxiing without toe brakes. I decided it was time to go to pedals, i might regret it later. Thrustmaster released some new entry level pedals this week too. $89 dollars

While I'm waiting for Amazon to deliver my x56, I'm currently using the Thrustmaster HOTAS X. It's their entry plastic level HOTAS. I've put 100's of hours on this thing, and other than wearing off the paint on the buttons, it's still as good as the day I bought it. If their pedals are from the same line and same build quality as the plastic HOTAS, I bet that they'll be rock solid for years.

My fairly new laptop has a 980 with 8 gig of VRAM. I'm good for a while.

It's future proof to run 4k when I ever get one.

When I order a new laptop I try and get the best one they offer within reason, which is usually just a 2-3 choices. If one is a $150 upgrade and another is $400, I go with the midgrade. But I really have no clear understanding, beyond ram, of what makes one better than the other. I also use a gaming laptop, so I wouldn't try to upgrade it myself anyway.

For the few games I play I'm getting 60-80 fps and things seem pretty smooth. But I wouldn't have any clue about the various models available and what makes them better.
