Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Preorders Sell Out In Minutes On Amazon, Best Buy And Newegg 23 May 2016, 9:32 am EDT By Horia Ungureanu Tech Times 5fark slashdot nowintstock.net, a website that monitors important online retailers, demonstrates that the stocks of the GPU are depleted at all the mentioned vendors. The Nvidia Store and B&H Photo also show "out of stock" next to the GeForce GTX 1080. According to Kotaku's report, Now In Stock shows that both the EVGA and ZOTAC models that could be preordered checked out within minutes. To be more exact, Amazon sold all its EVGA GTX 1080 in 6 minutes, with ZOTAC lasting a full 12 minutes before going out of stock. The popularity of the device is not a shock, as the GeForce GTX 1080 was highly commended from the get-go. The standard GeForce GTX 1080 Founders Edition will come at a price point of $699, while a number of custom variants will be available for as low as $599. The GPU will be available from third parties such as Asus, Msi, Pny and a few others. One big selling point of GTX 1080 is that it is the first graphics processing unit built on 16nm FinFET platform. This means that the GPU makes use of smaller, faster transistors that wield faster speed and better performance. What is more, GTX 1080 bases its performance on the 8 GB of Micron's GDDR5X memory. This means that the device benefits from speeds of up to 10 Gbps, making it almost twice as fast as a GPU laden with standard GDDR5 memory. It should be mentioned that the power-efficient GTX 1080 has a clock running at 1,700 MHz, which gulps 180 watts of power. With the GPU Boost 3 technology, gamers can go wild overclocking their video cards. Reports from April indicated that the design of the GTX 1080 will feature a silver and black case that comes with a fan and a heatsink hidden beneath a plastic cover. .
