Short term or long term? Did you notice a difference in energy, skin, weight? I think I drink it out of habit and am going to give it up for a week and see how it goes.

Yes. Life improved dramatically. I could walk again, my sight was restored, and I stopped my predilection for stealing Hummel figurines from the local craft store. But then I discovered:

    Too good to stop.

P.S. but seriously. I did stop for a while, and, yes, I do think green tea etc makes you feel and look better; but I am equally serious that I love Peet's and Philz so i'm back on the black stuff. :)

First. I LOVE coffee. Love it. I stopped caffiene for a little while due to trying to be more hydrated and caffiene tends to be dehyrating. It was fine, i switched to decaf with no ill effects and didn't really notice much difference. But REALLY there are no serious health effects of coffee, unless you're pregnant or have high blood pressure. In fact, caffiene has been found to be a neuroprotective agent against things like Parkinson's and Alzhiemers's . They actually give caffiene patches to Parkinson's patients. So I don't know why you want to give up something you like, that's good for you. I personally only drink about 2 cups a day. (I walk around with the same cup and reheat a few times so I'm sure people think I drink more coffe than I really do. But the reality is I don't drink more than 2 cups a day. )

Are you giving up coffee and still drinking alcohol? Coffee in moderation is good for you, at least till the next study. Alcohol is good for you in moderation too, but moderation is a difficult thing to do.

Cold turkey 5 years ago. I do have the occasional coffee (3-4 times a year) but not the multiple daily cups that I used to drink I also quit drinking soda at the same time.
I was a little lethargic the first week but after that I had no physical effects except for I slept a hell of a lot better.

I've quit coffee twice and switched to Irish Breakfast tea but after a couple of months I go back. Tea just doesnt get me going like coffee does and no I notice no health difference except coffee is a little harder on my stomach :dontknow:

It will not be an easy week (probably month) but you will be much better off in the long run.

Caffeine inhibits anti-diuretic hormone which dehydrates you, ruins your skin, confuses your brain's thirst and hunger receptors to encourage over eating and snacking. It also constricts your blood vessels and will cause dilation and headaches when withdrawing.

You will have energy problems for a few weeks. Try weaning off with black tea. Caffeine is also an appetite depressant so expect the same snacking problems with anxiety that someone quitting smoking experiences.

Oh and caffiene is also good for your skin. Skin products containing caffiene are the best.

Coffe is the most addictive substance on the planet.
I started drinking it a 3 and in my misguided late 20's i tried to quit.
    Needless to say i failed.
Coffee is for the most part a healthy drink and people who drink it in moderation (3 or fewer cups a day) live about 5 years longer than those who dont.
A happy brain makes for a longer life

    What!?!?!?!

That is an insult to god and the U.S.A.!

Do you also suggest we leave Jesus and worship Baphomet?

    You heathen!

Well, I am a woman, soooo....

When I was little, I noticed how people got addicted to coffee, and couldn't function without it, and decided I would not let that happen to me. :fil:

I never had to, because I never drank coffee to begin with. Like beer, I was repulsed by both the taste and smell when I was young, so as I grew up I stayed away from both.
